Content Marketing: What to say when calling prospects

Hello,
We have a useful article on a topic that there isn't much information on in our niche. Some of these organizations which we're outreaching to have general phone contact numbers. Would it be a good idea to call them?
If so, can you give me some pointers as what to say?

Could I get some additional suggestions here. It was originally a Moz Associate that said to try phone calls in my industry when promoting our article.

This will be appealing to the humanitarian side of things in that it's a needed resource for these sites. These sites already have resource links to humanitarian-type articles.
But I don't know if these general customer service phone numbers will be useful.
Does that change your response?

I think your efforts would be more rewarding if you contacted leading content production sites for that vertical like emarketer . Find out the top sites that are associated with that industry and have a big subscriber base and then try to pitch your original content to them. If they accept , not only have you addressed your distribution issue but your exposure and visibility part as well. I would agree with EGOL, cold calling will not get a good return.

That's true.
If you visit their site and see that they regularly mention new and valuable content on the web then you have a really good chance of getting a mention if your content is great. But if you are asking them to promote their product and they never do that then your call is probably going to be a waste of time.

True that most people won't be that nice, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. If you make 10 phone calls and one is receptive, you are in business! As you know, be sure to try to showcase the benefits to them as much as possible (exposure, links and etc.). Good luck!

When people call me about this kind of stuff I am usually not very nice to them.

Great Content
Hello fellow Mozzers! I'm still new to the SEO game and have been doing lots of reading and research about SEO. From what I've learned nowadays it all comes down to great content and links that come from it. I have to admit I'm a visual learner, I need to see it to understand and learn better. I was hoping that someone can provide some examples of GREAT Content (whether its a blog post, page, article, etc...) I know EGOL is one of the most valuabe SEOMoz users and by reading his forum responses he always advises to write great content to build links... Since all the Google updates this year in regards to links and content, I've read numerous times on this Q&A forum that great content gets links, and that submitting articles to directories or buying links doesn't work anymore or at least not something that a whitehat SEO should implement for a long term strategy, does that mean that if you publish great content on your site that is informative, unique and valuable it will get you links without submitting to directories or buying links? Curating Content. used to avoid, but now i'm having second thoughts
It's really hitting me now, because content curating is extremely common in a lot of other forms of media. I always avoided it because I didn't know the extent of any negatives that I might see from the search engines (duplicate content). Does anybody else curate content for their blogs? The main problem that I am having is that I just don't have enough time to publish the amount of content that I need. Outsourcing is the best alternative, and quite frankly, unless your high school English teacher needs extra money, it really isn't a very good one. Basically, i'm looking at content curating as a really good way to publish a lot of content, on more topics, a lot easier. What extent do you consider reasonable? How do you go about creating your content? What would you say is the easiest way to create content efficiently?

Do people think it is worth setting up a twylah.com page? Does it have value in adding link juice and content from our tweets?
I have seen the site www.twylah.com which produces a permanent page of your tweets for your fans or search engines to see. Has anyone experimented with this, and does it provide benefits, or is it just another distraction I should stear clear off. Any advice, thoughts or discussion appreciated.

Value no follow links from Google Content Network
Is there a value of using Google Content Network to add no follow links to the general linkscape of a website? I notice a lot of competion higher than me on SERPs for specific keywords have these links from website with high DA. We have tested the value of having Adsense adds, but they do not convert the traffic. We might consider using them for the purposes of ranking higher on SERPs though, and would appreciate any experinces with this.

What to do with outdated (but ranking) content?
I'm SEOing for a theatre. We've got show pages that rank when searching for the business, but are outdated as the shows are from past years. The pages aren't accessible at all from the site now, but still exist in domain and are linked to by google. If you search the business, the results are: 1. [biz name] 2. [biz name] - tickets 3-6. outdated shows Should these pages be left up, or taken down and redirected home? Would there be any seo boost to the homepage from 301ing them home, or do you think it'd be more beneficial to have more results available as entry points into the site?
