Best way of connecting with key influencers
-
Hi,
I've identified a list of key influencers within my niche. I now want to connect with them, specifically to ask them to provide regular content for our site (they'll hopefully promote it via their own channels as well as us doing some promotion). The reason I want to do this is because it's easier to move Mohammed than the mountain! - I want to piggy-back on their success!
How would you go about doing this? Some of the influencers are follwing us on Twitter and I've had some nice discussions with them over the last few months or so (our Twitter has only been going since about March this year). Would you reach out via Twitter, or call them up? I really don't want to mess this up!
Thanks,
Amelia

** 'Landlord's Blog' - written by landlords, for landlords...**
This is an awesome idea.
You might be able to get a landlord to do just one article... or you might interview him/her and then you write something good from what you have learned - giving them big credit.
Good luck.

Hi EGOL,
Thank you. I get what you are saying.
However, we do have a really good website. And I'm not just saying that.
We launched our website last July, and have been regularly updating it with information relevant for our target market: UK Landlords (We're a BTL mortgage specialist). We get around 7,000 visits per month. The majority of this traffic is from organic rankings or PPC advertising, though we are getting more and more referral traffic every month.
We regularly contribute to several influential blogs - one of which is the most influential in our niche, so I don't think our problem is that our content is poor.
Simply - I want to get a few people on board who can offer our website visitors something we can't do ourselves. Specifically, I wanted to introduce a 'Landlord's Blog' - written by landlords, for landlords. Whilst several of my colleagues are landlords, they either don't have the time to write for us or,(sorry guys!) the skill to do it justice. Hence my wish to get a key influencer on board...
Thanks again for your input
Amelia

If your website is one of the best on the web then Mohammed might be "looking for you".... but if you have a nacient blog with poorly-written content you will have an easier job moving the mountain.
Influencers have lots of people bugging them and trying to "piggy-back on their success". They can smell that a mile away. If you ask them to build your website for you by "providing regular content"... they are going to laugh and laugh really hard - unless you have an audience that they want to reach.
The best way to make this happen is to figure out how Mohammed can piggy-back on YOUR success. Then he might be interested.

URL Change Best Practice
I'm changing the url of some old pages to see if I can't get a little more organic out of them. After changing the url, and maybe title/desc tags as well, I plan to have Google fetch them. How does Google know that the old url is 301'd to the new url and the new url is not just a page of duplicate content? Thanks... Darcy

Best way to remove full demo (staging server) website from Google index
I've recently taken over an in-house role at a property auction company, they have a main site on the top-level domain (TLD) and 400+ agency sub domains! company.com agency1.company.com agency2.company.com... I recently found that the web development team have a demo domain per site, which is found on a subdomain of the original domain - mirroring the site. The problem is that they have all been found and indexed by Google: demo.company.com demo.agency1.company.com demo.agency2.company.com... Obviously this is a problem as it is duplicate content and so on, so my question is... what is the best way to remove the demo domain / sub domains from Google's index? We are taking action to add a noindex tag into the header (of all pages) on the individual domains but this isn't going to get it removed any time soon! Or is it? I was also going to add a robots.txt file into the root of each domain, just as a precaution! Within this file I had intended to disallow all. The final course of action (which I'm holding off in the hope someone comes up with a better solution) is to add each demo domain / sub domain into Google Webmaster and remove the URLs individually. Or would it be better to go down the canonical route?

Best strategy for duplicate content?
Hi everyone, We have a site where all product pages have more or less similar text (same printing techniques, etc.) The main differences are prices and images, text is highly similar. We have around 150 products in every language. Moz's algorithm tells me to do something about duplicate content, but I don't really know what we could do, since the descriptions can't be changed to be very different. We essentially have paper bags in different colors and and from different materials.

Best url structure
I am making a new site for a company that services many cities. I was thinking a url structure like this, website.com/keyword1-keyword2-keyword3/cityname1-cityname2-cityname3-cityname4-cityname5. Will this be the best approach to optimize the site for the keyword plus 5 different cities ? as long as I keep the total url characters under the SeoMoz reccomended 115 characters ? Or would it be better to build separate pages for each city, trying to reword the main services to try to avoid dulpicate content.

Best Practices for Pagination on E-commerce Site
One of my e-commerce clients has a script enabled on their category pages that allows more products to automatically be displayed as you scroll down. They use this instead of page 1, 2, and a view all. I'm trying to decide if I want to insist that they change back to the traditional method of multiple pages with a view all button, and then implement rel="next", rel="prev", etc. I think the current auto method is disorienting for the user, but I can't figure out if it's the same for the spiders. Does anyone have any experience with this, or thoughts? Thanks!

Any way to make my page on top of results again?
Hello Everyone, For a long time now I've had many of my website pages ranked on first page of results for some popular searches. On friday I noticed the traffic coming from google dropped dramatically and I realized that I was not on first page anymore. My SEO is focused for Google Spain. Here are some examples: http://msn-messenger.hispazone.com/ This page was on position 9 (first page) if we perform the search "Descargar msn" on Google. Now it's on page 3. http://http://adobe-acrobat-reader.hispazone.com/ This was position 5 (first page) for the search "descargar adobe". Now it's also page 3. Any suggestions? Best Regards.
