Google My Business listing - listed at CLOSED (how do I open)
-
Good afternoon Mozzers,
I hope you can help me. I have a business listing, which is listed as being "PERMANENTLY CLOSED".
In fact the business is OPEN it has just changed business name. I have ownership of the listing.
I have "reported an issue" to Google and asked them to list as open, however how long will this take? Is there anything I can do to fast track this and limit the business impact?
Any help welcomed,
Ben

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it. I will follow your 2 prolonged approach!

Hi Ben,
Okay, good, so it sounds like there is just 1 listing for the business, rather than 2 duplicates, if I'm understanding you correctly.
I can't be 100% sure what happened, though it's not an uncommon issue - see:
etc.
My best advice is 2-pronged:
-
Create a thread in the above forum, sharing the complete details of the business and what happened, in hopes that a TC or employee will jump in to help you.
-
If you don't get a response within a week, get on the phone with Google via the Contact Us button here: https://support.google.com/business/?hl=en&rd=1#topic=4539639 Let them know what happened and also that you started a forum thread but didn't experience resolution.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Arh good question.
I work in head office and previously the listing was managed at site level (who marked it as CLOSED).
I then claimed the listing from them and updated it accordingly.
I have then provided feedback on Google Maps to advise then that the business is OPEN.
Unfortunately it is still listed as CLOSED as of this morning.

Hey Ben,
Did you try to edit the existing listing to reflect the new business name and then Google created a new Google+ Local page and closed the old one? Can you explain, in detail, what happened leading up to the business being marked as closed?
-
Ok, the easiest way is to go to google maps and type in your company name. Then click on it on a map, the knowledge graph will appear on a left side. at the bottom there is suggest an edit. click on it, there is that checkbox.

Hi Dmitrii Kustov,
Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. However I can not find the tick box you talk of?
You mean in a listing within: https://business.google.com/* ?

Hi there.
Whenever you go to managing your business listing page, there is a checkbox which says "This business permanently closed". Make sure it's unchecked.
If everything else appears to be fine, then just wait on Google. Usually it takes them couple days to approve changes. Make sure though that everything is properly setup, basically, make sure you're shooting yourself in a leg by having some incorrect settings.

Sadly the support for Google maps is pretty bad. Did you report just an issue or did you fill in a form?
If you filled on a form with them than they will call or email you Normally within a week. Sadly no known way to speed it.

Google My Business Shared Address Problem
Hi, I have an issue. Our organization shares a church with another organization. Years ago they claimed the address. They have their Google Business category set up as "Religious Organization". About 6 months ago we started sharing the same church with them. We are a total different organization. We now have a verified listing (same address but with STE 100 in it) with the main category being "Church". There are a few issues I am seeing: When doing a search for our address, the icon is the default one, whereas all the other churches in the area show the church icon. Is this because they claimed the original address as "Religious Organization" and because we only have STE 100, even though labeled as Church, Google doesn't see it that way? If you search for the location + church, neither of our organizations show, even after 6 months. They only show if you search for the organization name or address. Could this be because Google doesn't consider this address (therefore both of us) as a church and doesn't show it? Here is our Google local listing and the one we share with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. https://www.google.com/maps/place/1018+Parkway+Dr,+Spring+Hill,+TN+37174/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x8863828b8f17015b:0x59fd9715acc7e144?sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi7h5DCqfbXAhXBc98KHXcyA4gQ8gEIKDAA Thank you!

Local Directories: What are the best practices for manually updating over 500 listings?
We are currently using an aggregator for a client, but we will be manually updating 5 different local directories that are not included in the distribution for over 500 locations. I am wondering if there are any local experts that have a set of best practices/processes for this type of scenario?

Location pages for Two location business
Hi friends, I have a website with two brick and mortar locations. Right now I have both NAP's listed on every page on the sidebar and footer. I don't have either in schema format yet, as I don't know if I can have two schema's on the same page. 1. In the near future, I will be publishing pages for each individual location, but I want to keep the NAP of the other location on that page also, in case the visitor would prefer that location (they are only a few towns away from each other) Is that going to cause issues? Should I only have the NAP of that location? Which should I have schema data for? 2. Also, I have location pages for the surrounding cities, which we have added a Google Map with directions to the closest location, written directions, a few local reviews, and a paragraph about services. I want to publish these asap to rank in those ~10 other nearby locations. What NAP should I have on those pages? The closest location, or both? 3. Linking in the Google Local/My Business. I have verified both locations Google Local's, and I want to link them into the respective Two locations once published, but I want to do it properly. I read on one location seo article that I should change the website listed on the Google Local profile to the new url of that location, and link to the Google Local on that page. Is this correct? Which Google profile do I link to in the other location pages? or both?

Merging Google Place Accounts to Merge Reviews for same Company
Hi Everybody If you have 2 Google Place Listings (Local Listings) 1 with 1 Location and 1 with another Location, is there anyway to merge the 2 Accounts. 1 of them has lots of Reviews and the other contains some Reviews so Ideally there would be 1 Account which merges all Reviews into 1 Account Multiple Locations can then be added into the 1 Account. Any Ideas Thanks Adam

Multiple listing directory pages pointing back to the same local business profile
I've been tuning my SEO pages to cover cities, states, and metro areas for local businesses we have. I'm wondering if the same business showing up on multiple pages, because they can actually go out and service that area, has a negative impact on rankings. Does multiple pages on your site, pointing to the same content, hurt or help the ranking of either page?

Is there something that I can do to get my listing back in Places?
My Google Places listing is not showing as of Friday. The business name is Emerald Coast Carpet Cleaning in Shalimar, Florida. The area that I'am trying to show for is the Fort Walton/ Destin area. All my competitors are still showing in Places but mine is not. I am still seeing it on the map though. I didn't change anything in the profile in the past 14 days. Is there something that I can do to get my listing back in Places?

How to remove a former business location from Google Places?
I've received a strange response from Google Places on local listings for a home builder. Google's rep suggested that we not list the new home sales center (a model home) since at some point it will change from being a business listing to a residential listing. That is just wrong. It will be a place of business for the next 3 years and then will flip to being a private residence. These days it is uncommon, but not that rare to turn over ownership from public to private or vice versa (A residence becoming a law or other commercial establishment. Or a whole office building becoming condos.) The issue is, when it does happen, how do we get Google and others to recognize that a business is no longer a business location? I've had trouble bringing down the address of former former model home sales centers on Google Places much to the chagrin of the residents.
