HAAH!!! I love your question. I don't know what the consequences would be, but do what you have to do. 301 them back to the source, Google or your competitor.

RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
Let's go back to your title tag:
"Photos on Canvas from the Experts at Get Your Photos on Canvas".
I would probably put something that's easier to read like:
"Photos on Canvas - We Transfer Pictures to Canvas."
Also remember, CTR is a part of the algorithm. IF your site doesn't get clicked on, then Google thinks your site is not appealing to the end users. Here is your meta description:
"Get Your Photos on Canvas offers the best quality photo to canvas prints in the business, Free Digital Proofing Page, Unconditional Satisfaction Guarantee"
If I came to google and saw your title and description, 1st I would get confused just reading your title. It may make sense to you, but I had to read it twice. 2nd, your description " offers the best quality photo to canvas prints in the business" is (sorry) BS. Every company says the same thing: "We're #1, We are the Best, etc". I don't know you from anyone else out there. How do I know you offer the best quality photo to canvas?
I would rewrite the description to something more like:
"Transfer your Wedding, Family, and Art pictures to Canvas! Bring life to your home with Photos on Canvas. See examples."
My point here is maybe you weren't penalized. Maybe people just aren't "ENTICED" enough to click on your ads. If people aren't even clicking on your ads, Google will know that your click stream is low and will lower your rankings accordingly. Read more about clickstream here.
Also, your site took a hit on April 25th, the day after Penguin. I'm not 100% sure it was Penguin. A client of mine was hit exactly on the 24th and almost everyone on SEOMOZ who was hit by Penguin was hit on April 24th.
Your visits are very low overall so I don't think your sample size can show us what happened. It may just be your top performing page that dropped in rankings and your visits went down along with it.
BY THE WAY, I just got married and I'm interested in your services.

RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
You should take a snapshot of Traffic Sources > Sources > Organic.

RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
I think your titles might be over-optimized. As far as I know of Penguin, it penalized over-optimization of websites.

RE: Is it OK to discuss SEO for an adult site?
I'm fine with it. Don't put NSFW, I didn't know what that stood for.
Put NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK or if you wife is around in bold.

RE: Yahoo directory inclusion
Just make sure you have a nice site that's updated. If you are talking about www.shiftins.com, then it looks okay to me. Make sure there are no 404s or anything like that.
BTW, I think BBB is better than Yahoo Directory since BBB gives more credibility. Get both if you can afford it.

RE: Where is the best place to find an SEO coach?
Once you have stepped up your game and you have some money, go to Market Motive and take Avinash's Analytics class.
It's not always about SEO. For my clients, it's about more money in the bank. SEO is only a part of the puzzle.

RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
Ray, this doesn't sound just a little spammy to you:
"Photos on Canvas from the Experts at Get Your Photos on Canvas".
Photos x 2
Canvas x 2
Experts x 1
Get x 1
It just doesn't sound right; at least not to me.

RE: No idea where to start with Adwords
Brian, I am the KING of Google Adwords. Follow DesignBigger's advice. And don't forget to use negative keywords. If you need help, contact me or any certified Google Adwords specialist.
If you do things right, in the long term, you can possibly get around a 24% conversion rate like I do for one of my clients.
-
RE: How do I find my client's real competition?
Slap him upside his head and say, "Whatcha talkin' bout Willis?".
If that doesn't work, go with symbols' response.

RE: Finding Good Content Writers
www.oDesk.com! Remember, you can find contractors there everywhere in the world. You can even find Americans! Make sure they can write good English. You can even track their hours and see their desktop so you know they aren't goofing off.

RE: SEO companies
Here are my 2 cents. Yes they can work and "yes" I did it years ago and I did not get caught. I don't do it anymore. Here is the real reason I don't do it. Currently there are about 15 employees. "IF" I would have gamed the algorithm 1 year ago, then today there would have been 5 people laid off. I don't want my client to lay off anybody especially since many of them have kids and a mortgage.
This is the same reason I don't run Google Adwords to the max. Let's say that I get 20,000 unique visits per month coming from Adwords. If I am maxed out on acquiring traffic, then any decrease would mean downsizing. There are only so many people searching Google/Yahoo/Bing for keywords.
Instead I would want my traffic to be consistent and reliable so everybody can keep their jobs; including me.

RE: Broad Phrase keywords as domain name
I have been doing internet marketing for a long time. I have used exact match domains in the past simply to try and get a bump in Google's algorithm. My thoughts are different today because I think using a brandable domain is easier for people/prospects to remember. Finding brandable domains may call for a premium price, but it may pay off. The domain I am looking to purchase in the next week is going to cost $1,500. While I can go for the $10 keyword stuffed domain, nobody will remember it.

RE: Server crashed - What should I do regarding Google SERP´s?
I don't think this is necessarily true. "IF" her target market is in the US, then maybe the server should be in the US. "IF" her target market is specifically located in Uruguay, then yes perhaps the server should be in Uruguay.
If she is international SEO like me, then she should have a good web hosting company that can handle the load.
-
RE: Server crashed - What should I do regarding Google SERP´s?
I resubmitted the sitemap in GWT once everything looked right.
My answer is yes.
-
RE: Server crashed - What should I do regarding Google SERP´s?
Hi Cecilia, my client's site crashed for a couple days too, but this was about 1 year ago. Actually it was an attack (DDoS). Our rankings disappeared, but once I was able to get the site back up, most of our rankings came back to were they were before immediately. If I remember correctly, I think we were offline for 2 days and completely recovered within 1 week. The reason I think it took one week was it took Google a week to come back to my site and crawl it.
My advice: Don't worry too much about it. Your rankings should come back because it's an algorithm.

RE: Was I hit by panda or penguin?
Penguin was released on April 24th 2012. If you GA show a decrease on that date, then it's Penguin.

Open Site Explorer - Finding 404s from my competitor's external linking Root Domains
I want to find websites that have linked 404s to my competitors. My goal is to contact webmasters who have linked to my competitors with 404s, but I cannot figure out how to get Open Site Explorer to give me that data.
I can easily see this in GWT for my own site, but I need this for my competition instead.
Does anybody know a quick way to get this information?

RE: What do you get with mozpoints?
I got a free t-shirt fr becoming an Authority! But it was the same t-shirt I got a Mozcon
But besides that, credibility.

RE: Home page mostly graphic image
New site plus no content equals no ranking. You will need a lot of anchor text to help rank the site.
Read chapter 4
-
RE: Will changing my host affect my rankings
Nope, no redirects. I just kept all the file structures the same. I did keep my current 301s though.
-
RE: Will changing my host affect my rankings
I just changed host last week and there was NO loss of rankings.
-
RE: Home page mostly graphic image
If the owner will not allow the home page to be optimized, then make your internal pages optimized. Also, unless you are Lexus or a company with a lot of branding, trying to get a flash site to rank will be difficult because there is no text.
I personally would put content on there. Do not be afraid to share the domain here to give better feedback.
-
RE: Tool for finding what keywords a competitor ranks for?
Use OSE and look at their anchor text. This should give you a clue as to what keywords the have optimized for.

RE: Subdomain for a blog
Glad to help! One day hopefully you will return the favor to someone in need.
-
RE: Why does my entire site show duplicate page titles for every single page? I have palced a canonical tag on index page will this correct the problem?
Make sure the non-www points to the www version or vice versa. If you have example.com and www.example.com, then you might run into this problem.
-
RE: Subdomain for a blog
blog.example.com will not enjoy the link juice as would example.com/blog. By using the subdomain, you are basically starting a new site.
Hopefully that answers your question.
-
RE: Pagerank and combining pages
Cesar, you are bringing me back to times when I first asked questions like this.hehe
Ok, think about it like this. "IF" that were true, don't you think all of us on SEOMoz would have already done it.
Don't optimize for search engines. Optimize for conversions! Do the best thing for your visitors.
Your answer is... not likely if those pages have no authority.

RE: Sites Ranked Again - Post Penguin SEO Help
What is the best SEO strategy to move up in rank?
I think a sound link building campaign would be the way to go. Spend one week writing great content on your site and another week writing some great content for bloggers as a guest post. Make it useful for their audience.
-
RE: How can I optimise for Google Products?
It's been a LONG time since I used Google Base. I used to believe in Data Feed Optimization. Basically I would SEO down to the product page.
You may want to look into a service that will take your data and feed it to many other sites too. http://www.godatafeed.com

RE: Alternatives to Wordpress for updating content of a static html site
LOL! Yep, that can happen. Remember, ALWAYS upgrade your software to the latest stable version. I forgot to upgrade my ecommerce site and it got hacked a couple weeks ago.
Go ahead and feel free to use WP. Just remember to upgrade it because hackers find vulnerabilities in old versions.
You can also use Joomla or drupal.org/

RE: 301 Redirects
I just copied and pasted http://www.trophycentral.com/index.html into my browser. It redirected to http://www.trophycentral.com/. You are good to go!

RE: Which is the Best Web Hosting Company?
Host Gator is fine too. Go Daddy should be good to go too, but I never had to use them.
-
RE: Which is the Best Web Hosting Company?
The word "best" depends on the individual. If you are just starting off, then a regular webshosting company will work.
Dreamhost is the web hosting company I use. I also use AWS and RackSpace Cloud. Use one of those two if you need to run some custom development.
-
RE: New to SEO. How do I set up a 301 Redirect? What Else should I do?
I use Dreamhost, Amazon Cloud (AWS) and Rackspace. Nearly all the stuff you'll need can be done on Dreamhost. Dreamhost is a good web hosting company.
-
RE: New to SEO. How do I set up a 301 Redirect? What Else should I do?
You will be limited to whatever Yahoo allows you to do. They aren't that flexible. Think about it this way. Have you ever heard of a large company use Yahoo? If you keep hanging around in these forums, you will outgrow Yahoo really quick.

RE: Need some Real Insight into our SEO Issue and Content Generation
I built this site using wordpress. Notice there is no blog? http://www.aa-auto.com/

RE: Need some Real Insight into our SEO Issue and Content Generation
There are many articles in SEOmoz on this. You can find your answer there.
Using a subdomain is like using a COMPLETELY different site.
Since www.practo.com and practo.com/ray would be totally different product websites catering to our customers and we would want the SEO to not get hampered under any costs.
Print this and go to a coffee shop: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/understanding-root-domains-subdomains-vs-subfolders-microsites. This might help.
You may also want to read this, especially the link part: http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
-
RE: Need some Real Insight into our SEO Issue and Content Generation
I would use** www.example.com/ray**. You can pass link juice from / to /ray.
But then my open page contents will come as www.example.com/ray/blog/article-urls - wont this hurt the SEO url's?
No. Don't worry about that. Seriously. Also, try not to keyword stuff in the URL.
This example.com/blog/article seems better. I probably wouldn't put /ray in there at all; unless it has a real purpose.
You can build EVERYTHING in /test and then move the entire site to / via a WP plugin. Search for a widget "move site" or something like that.

RE: Need some Real Insight into our SEO Issue and Content Generation
Keeping in mind SEO and also since I will be generating new content via our Wordpress instance what are the best ways to do this so that google does not have difficulty in find out content
Submit a sitemap.
Here's what I would do:
-
example.com/ (HTML)
-
example.com/blog (WordPress)
-
Hire a designer so the design on /blog is the same as /.
-
forget about subdomains. This is going to be like starting a new website.
OR
-
example.com/ (WordPress)
-
example.com/blog (Of course WordPress). Just don't make the homepage the blog.
-
no subdomains

RE: New to SEO. How do I set up a 301 Redirect? What Else should I do?
Here, read this: http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
Print it and go to Starbucks.
Oh, one other thing. To make things faster in web development, I have a design made in PSD and then have it coded into WordPress. That way I don't have to mess with Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is fine, but not when I'm working on sites that I expect to grow. With WordPress (and many CMS'), it automatically 301s old pages. If not, then there's a plugin.

RE: Is it worth the $325.00 to join the BBB just to get the link?
This depends on how many people work at your business. Make yourself sound broke and tell them you only have a website and no office.
-
RE: <bs>Will someone give me a "thumbs up" so I can become an Authority and get my SEOMOZ T-Shirt?</bs>
HAHA, your remark was funny. All that work for a t-shirt. Yes.... I give a lot of free advice here. I do like guiding people and teaching. Thanks for the "thumbs up".
I can't wait to get my mozBot Guru Trophy. (hehe)

RE: Does anyone know an "updated" all in one cheat cheat for on page SEO
This one is good. It's not as recent as you want it, but print it out and grab a cup of coffee:

RE: Inbound Link Discrepancy: Campaign vs Open Site Explorer
That's a bit odd. Check your GWT links. Also make sure you are using the same domain: example.com vs www.example.com.
Millions of links? Check GWT and if there is something really suspicious, contact Google and tell them about what's happening. I don't know if you should tell them to devalue your links or what, but try to be as honest as you can.

<bs>Will someone give me a "thumbs up" so I can become an Authority and get my SEOMOZ T-Shirt?</bs>
<bs>I have helped many people (probably 100s) here in the forums. My fingers are swollen and I can't answer questions right now. I want my SEOmoz t-Shirt for becoming an Authority, but I'm a few points shy. Any help would be appreciated.</bs>
Watch people give me a thumbs down. LOL

RE: Is it worth the $325.00 to join the BBB just to get the link?
Tom, I use it in the SERPS to prove credibility. https://www.google.com/search?q=ship+overseas&pws=0
You can see that I wrote about my A+ rating right in the description. My competitors are too cheap to get it and don't see the value. Go to the website and you'll see it on nearly everypage. I use BBB for credibility. Once in a while I actually see that I make a sales from someone who came via BBB so it paid itself off.
It's not just a link; it's credibility.

RE: Creative Linking for Marginal Industries?
Try this strategy. let's say you are trying to rank in the UK. Find some .co.uk sites where you can build links from. You may get better rankings in google.co.uk.
I wish I could help you more.
