More importantly, check GWT to see your internal links. OSE is fine, but just go to the source.

RE: Crawl credits how to buy more?
Weird question here. I don't know why anyone would want to crawl their site 3 times within one day. ?
-
RE: My seo company has a footer link that links to my site by keyword will this effect my rankings
If you want to test it out, do a nofollow on that link. If your site bounces back, then it was an algorithm thing.
-
RE: Keywords repetition in both post/page title+url path or spread between both of them?
Make your titles enticing. Don't keyword stuff. It's not readable anyway. Do what's best for CONVERSIONS! What you are doing is getting lost in chasing Google Algorithm. Instead do what's best for your customer. Write kick ass content.
You have to subscribe to Matt Cutts who writes the algorithm for Google. Learn his thought process.
-
RE: Does having the same descrition for different products a bad thing the titles are all differnent but but they are the same product but with different designs on them does this count as duplicate content?
I heard Matt Cutts on a video say that meta description is not a ranking factor anymore. But have the same meta description repeat many times throughout your site can sound like a spam site.
I personally would write different meta description. If it's only a couple hundred, just hack it out and get it over with. If it's in the thousands, well you have a problem.
-
RE: Keyword search in Google Adwords
Focus on what's best for your customer. Make your title tags readable and don't keyword stuff because that will confuse people when they read your titles.
I use exact match but I try to combine it with other exact match to create something readable or optimize for two keywords at once.
[car shipping] + [instant auto quote] = Car Shipping | Get an Instant Auto Quote for any 2 zip codes.
Try something like that.

RE: How to make a best SEO strategy
I agree with IrishMark, read that ebook. I recommend it all the time.
Also, make sure your online marketing strategy follows your businesses objective. Here's a real example. I sat down with the owner of a company (they are my client). I asked, "What are your business objectives? I have been marketing for your company for 6 months now and we can clearly see the positive impact."
He replied, "I want to be stable so that none of us have to go back to 2008-2010. It was a horrible time. Also, I want to retire within two years."
Mohammad, as you can tell I wasn't about to do a "let's rank higher" or "let's do more SEO" approach. This company has people who have mortgages and children. I take care of their online presence. **I made an online marketing strategy that fits their business objectives. **
I haven't done link building in over 6 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND this company keeps getting higher and higher rankings. I built a community. I did CRO. I focused on conversions in Adwords and Organic. I did all white hat (well almost all white hat) SEO.
You have to find out what the business objective of the company are.

RE: Are links safe from friendsite.com?
At MozCon 2011 Martin MacDonald asked the audience, "Who wants 3 million links pointed to their site?" Needless to say, I raised my hand. Live on stage, he pointed 3 million crappy links to my site, shipoverseas.com. I saw 100s of thousands new links in GWT. He kept them there for a couple days. I told Rand about this in a private email, bascially.... "All those links that were pointed to my homepage didn't have a positive impact on my rankings, but just as important it didn't have a negative impact."
Conclusion: Don't worry about it. Google knows that stuff happens. Do what's best for your prospects.

RE: Penguin update... is this a good idea?
I don't think a 301 would help out your situation. If I were in your situation, I would go through GWT and contact all the shady sites to remove the links. Also, I would build kick ass content ASAP to offset grey hat marketing. If you need to buy some authority, get a membership at BBB.org and your local chamber of commerce. Real companies have these memberships anyway, spammer don't.
You should read Ryan Kent's (the #1 guy on SEOMOZ) post about Identifying Link Penalties. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012

RE: What's a reasonable bounce rate for school website?
What you should do is look at your Google Analytics and look at the bounce rate for landing pages. Bounce rate is a SUCKY metric. It way to broad. Instead find the landing pages that have a higher bounce rate than the site average and work on them. Hope that helps.

RE: Excluding my domain from search statistics
The question sounds a little confusing. I'll give my best shot at answering this. If you want to see how your site performs in Google Analytics, then you would go under ADMIN > Your site > Filters > New Filter > Exclude "Traffic fro the IP Addresses. Once you do that, Google Analytics will block your IP address. I DEFINITELY use this to block my IP and the office IP address because it would mess up all reporting.
-
RE: SEO timeline / action plans
If you are going to be working with only a few people, you may want to use Google Calendar to schedule your tasks. I personally use it and I share calendars with other Google users. Also, Google + seems like a good way to communicate for me too.
If your projects involve several people, then you may want to look into a paid service like BaseCamp.com. They have a 45 day free trial. I have used BaseCamp and it's great.
-
RE: 404 for duplicate content?
I agree with Andy here. Too many 404's can hurt your site. EVEN Google says that in GWT. I wouldn't do any 404s. I would 301 or robot.txt folders.
You may want to robots.txt some folders. Sometimes you can get a plugin and fix things quickly.
-
RE: How Do I Create a Google Analytics Dashboard for My Designer To Monitor Landing Page A/B Testing
You should be using Google Content Experiments. It used to be called Google Conversion Optimizer. You can find Google Experiments in GA > Content > Experiments. There is a video there you can watch. You can test up to 6 version of a single webpage.

RE: Site disappeared from rankings at 5th of October
Contact my buddy Ryan Kent. His company specializes in link removal penalties

BTW, he's #1 on SEOMOZ and even I have sent him business. Tell him Cisco from Planet Marketing says hi!

RE: How long does it take for a new website to start showing in the SERP'S
Please take the time to read Chapter 7. http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
You need to grow the popularity of your website by building links. Also, you may to buy the MOZCON 2012 video and watch Paddy Moogan's "35 Ways to Get Links" .
-
RE: If my keyword have Keyword Difficulty Score 50 to 60 , then what kind of link build for get rank?
I recommend you read chapter 7 http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
Are those 21 micro sites selling the same things? I rank for many highly competitive keywords and to tell you the truth, I haven't built any links in 6 months! Create GREAT content and people will naturally link to you and give you Facebook likes.
-
RE: Help with strange 404 Errors.
You may want to check GWT under malware. That seems odd that you never link to NFL, but the 404 is coming from your site.
Check the source code of those particular pages that are giving the 404s. Check line by line for anything you don't recognize. Also, make SURE there aren't any .ru TLDs there.
When my site got attacked, my hosting company stepped up and did a scan of malware and they found severall things. So maybe your hosting company can do a scan for you.

Can anyone recommend any good PHP books for beginners?
I know SEO, PPC, some web development & CSS, Google Analytics like a ninja, BUT I don't know crap about php.
Can anyone recommend books or online courses as a great starting point on learning php?

RE: What are the best social media measurement/ management tools to use (that measure metrics and conversation volume & conversation sentiment)?
You can use Google Analytics under Social to measure your Social and conversions on your site. I don't think it'll measure your FB Page likes, but in my GA I can see it measures the Likes of my site's URLS and the Facebook comments. If you look at this page http://www.shipoverseas.com/us/ship-car/europe/shipping-car-to-uk.html GA records the Likes (provided by AddThis) and the Facebook Comments at the bottom.
-
RE: What are the best social media measurement/ management tools to use (that measure metrics and conversation volume & conversation sentiment)?
I just talked to http://www.wildfireapp.com yesterday. They want $3,500/mo!
-
RE: How do you deal with comment spam: wordpress?
You may want to check your GA to see if this started all at once. Your site might be under a DDoS attack, but your server is holding up. That sounds like an awful lot of blocking in one hour. Sometimes the ISP has to step in if you host the server inhouse.
-
RE: Is there any SEO benefit of adding the Facebook "Like" widget to your site?
I started off with ZERO likes too: shipoverseas.com. We all have to start somewhere. On this site I am using AddThis.
-
RE: Is there any SEO benefit of adding the Facebook "Like" widget to your site?
I use it as a source of credibility. Do spam site have a lot of like? Nope. If a site has 100s or even 1000s of likes, is a scam? Highly unlikely.
Too me Social Buttons are like being a member of BBB. It lends credibility. BTW, social buttons lend no SEO.
-
RE: Please give me some ideas on my link building campaign
I agree here with Sanket, I don't think Health is totally unrelated. Perhaps heakth is too broad, but maybe health insurance or healthy life.
Take a look at your Google Analytics and see what people are typing in to find your site. That may give you a place to start. Also use Google Insights. Look at the bottom of this page: http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=pharmacy%20schools&cmpt=q Under "search Terms" IMHO these are related keywords.
-
RE: Google Analytics & AdWords Conversion Tracking
Give your Adwords Conversion code about 2 days to really start showing conversions. Also don't forget to sync GA and Adwords within your GA Account.
-
RE: Guest Posts on Sites With Irrelevant Outbound Links
Think about the short term gains vs long term gains. If this site helps you rank for the short term and you make money, then it may be okay.
Also, consider the business objectives of your site or client's site. I have a client who wants to retire. There is NO FREAKIN way I would do this because it can flag Google and then penalties may occur. If this happened, then my client would not be able to retire.
Also, you are entering into gray hat SEO practices. You can get away with it "if" your site is already an authority, but I wouldn't risk it if your site is new. If the site is new, then the link profile is weak and it's easy to point webmasters out who game Google's algorithm.

RE: Google also indexed trailing slash version - PLEASE HELP
I'm not 100% sure how to answer your question, but an .htaccess 301 might work.
/example.html/ example.html
Try that to see if it works.
-
RE: Help With Disappearing Rankings
That site doesn't deserve to rank. Come on! No content on the home page? Google can't tell what the keywords are.
Please read chapter 4. http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
Sorry if I sound harsh, but how can the owner of that site possibly expect to rank without content?
-
RE: Do I have to set up new SEOmoz campaigns after URL switch?
SEOmoz crawlers figure it out over time. Just give it a couple weeks. If you have problems, which I doubt, contact help@seomoz.org
-
RE: Is this Negative SEO?
I wouldn't worry about those videos. Just hire some 18 year-old skater to shoot a real video and bump these guys off the SERPS. I don't see anything negative about the videos. They are just boring. All I see is some dork recording his steering wheel racing a 4-cyclider Civic thinking it's fast. Don't loose sleep over this.
My 2 cents:
POV = Privately Owned Vehicle. Change the acronym in the logo so we aren't guessing watch POV means.
You'll get a high bounce rate from Android users like me!
-
RE: How do I make sure my homepage ranks better than my 2nd page when I need the same keywords for both? I don't want them competing against each other for keywords.
I like Akhil's response. But I need to hammer down a little more.
Page A and Page B are nearly the same thing? Merge one with the other.
Example:
Page A (Shipping Car)
Page B (Transporting Car)
Redirect page B to Page A. Include the word Transporting Car in the content. Build links to Page A with anchor text Transporting Car.
You need to watch the White Board Fridays and read this. http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo

RE: How current is the data reflected in the SEOmoz toolbar?
You can look out for the Linkscape update. That's what SEOmoz calls it.
There is a button at the bottom of the calendar where you can add this update to your Google Calendar. I use it in my Google Calendar.
http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/25141119/Linkscape%20Schedule
Check it out, you'll like it.
-
RE: Anchor links percent
What you are showing me is 1 paragraph with a bunch of links. It's not normal. I don't think there is an "anchor link percent" factor, but you are clearly trying to game Google's algorithm to pass link juice.
Make it natural.
-
RE: How do I correctly use YouTube?
Look at the annotations here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qc_hgpe6eA
You can put "Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel Now" or something similar.
Some advice, don't think it's tacky to put this on your videos. They are free anyway.
By the way, I used to be like those guys in that video. Now I were a suit and lost the accent LOL.
-
RE: Linking between your own websites- yay or nay?
C-Blocks are groups of domains with an administrative relationship between them. Linking domains residing on the same C-Block often indicates websites that have the same owner.
-
RE: How do I correctly use YouTube?
I would try to get more thumbs up. I actually would put it during the video. Also I would put "SUBSCRIBE to Our Channel"
-
RE: How can I verify if someone is Google Analytics certified?
I second Zeph!
Pick your country: http://www.google.com/analytics/partners/index.html
OR ask Avinash here: http://www.marketmotive.com/internet-marketing-training-and-certification-signup?top=certification&topic=WebAnalytics
I took his course and it was awesome!
-
RE: Do you think this is hurting me SEO efforts?
Take off the Magento Favicon. Also put some content on the home page.
http://www.yourjigsawpuzzles.co.uk/ is a new domain so why should it rank so fast. Registered on: 16-Jan-2012
Start writing some kick ass content. Freakin' make it up and redo it. READY FIRE AIM! I think puzzles help little kids have fun and learn how to concentrate. Make a puzzle and frame it. Put it on the wall and take a picture. There are so many things you can do!
Print this and go to a coffee shop: http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo
Look at my home page (it's magento too) and I rank for everything. But my landing pages combined bring in way more traffic than the home page.
-
RE: Anchor links percent
Watch Matt Cutts (the engineer at Google) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk4qgQdp2UA
To me, what matters most is conversions, not chasing the algorithm. Sorry for the short answer, but listen to Matt.
-
RE: Anyone Still Use Article Directories?
if you are talking about article spinning, it can still work. In fact, I have a friend who did it and rankings haven't gone down in 10 months. But the website I am talking about is an authority website and has been around for many years with a good link profile.
If your site is new, I would forget about it and use the money to buy credibility with a company like the BBB.
Watch Matt Cutts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5xP-pTmlpY
-
RE: Linking between your own websites- yay or nay?
If they are on the same c-block, then I probably wouldn't link them. Instead I would focus on doing what is best for the user and optimize for conversions. I definitely wouldn't link a non-relative website to another or the Penguin site.
-
RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
Malware usually refers to "your" site. Go through your code (Control U) and look to see if there is any bad code in there.
I don't know what Siteloki does, but as your site gets bigger, you can expect things like that to happen. Sometimes these sites have you on their sites, then take you off before you know it. I don't know why they do that, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Again, I would build quality links to your site to offset crap links like siteloki.com.
-
RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
Only use OSE as a guideline. I have told this to many people here on SEOmoz. OSE is okay, but it's not a Google Bot. OSE uses RogerBot.
Go by what your GWT says.
OSE is good for competitor analysis.
I don't think this will help though since what probably happened is that it was giving you an artificial boost and Google then devalued the domain.
My BEST ADVICE is to start gaining quality links. If you have money, get BBB and YAHoo Directory. I use BBB because I can "buy" my credibility. Build good links to offset the bad ones you received. You have too little traffic and are not diversified enough so any hit will be big. You need more traffic.
-
RE: Trying to understand the sporadic and not relevant search results from Google?
Yes. So let's use an example. Let's say you hate your competitor and want to do something evil and make them lose rankings. You would build prono links to your competitor's site.
Don't do this because it can be a law suit.
-
RE: How many keywords/key phrases to use on main page
Make your homepage the subject of your whole site.
Look at my site (I always use it as an example). Home page is about shipping. Categories are about types of shipping. The landing pages are for shipping to specific countries.
If I were marketing your site, I would stick to "Luxury Real Estate in Dallas" and possibly make category pages for different cities.
-
RE: Where do i find Local SEO Clients?
In the Title of Craigslist, put your city. Craigslist has a LOT of DA and Google puts the listings in the SERPS. Sometimes it only takes an 15 minutes for the crawl. Just do it once and see if it works.
