Parent pages and seo
-
Hi
Im designing a new website and want my seo to be as good as poss. (obviously )
What the situation with parent pages and urls.
My idea is this
keyword dog training with a page all about dog training.
but then another page would be whistle training.
is there any benefit or disadvantage to so it this way
www.mysite.com/dog-training/whistle-training/
Thanks

Frankly depends on the depth you want to take and your CMS and its automation features.
So take for example your page : www.mysite.com/dog-training/whistle-training/
An automated title tag and meta description set up would take its data from the URL and Page titles and categories:
Whistle Training for Dogs > Dog Training Guides > MySite.com
Whereby you have the rules:
{Page Title} for Dogs > {category URL} Guides > Mysite.com
In such instances it is better to use clever set ups that work with most keyphrase combinations, and the added "Dog Training" in the title, URL and page description helps strengthen the overall site or section focus when it comes to the primary keyword such as "Dog training"
So in the example Richard has given above:
Title:Â Whistle Training for Dogs > Dog Training Guides > MySite.com
Title:Â Triball Training for Dogs > Dog Training Guides > MySite.com
Title:Â Fetch Training for Dogs > Dog Training Guides > MySite.com
This shows that you have plenty of "Dog Training" pages in that category and you can start to see how the repetition would help the section on the site.
However, if you DONT have automation, I prefer a flatter hiearchy:
You can still have the same title tag set up to strengthen the relevancy.
The reason why I prefer the flat URL hiearchy is that in your case the flowed hiearchy works, but on many sites a page could be part of two categories, and as such can cause havoc or multiple URLs when trying to fit into URL.

I would keep the structured path you have going, especially if you plan on adding more than just one type of dog training.
For example:
-
To prevent overlapping your page URL's focus it may better to do the following for dog training and whistle training:
www.mysite.com/whistle-training/
That also keeps the words the page focuses on as close as possible to the front of the URL.

How to optimise 2 (almost) identical ecommerce pages
I have an ecommerce site selling only 1 product on subscription. However, I want to offer a free trial of the product on 1 page, and a buy it now on the other, thus 2 pages, but selling exactly the same product. I also thought it would give me the opportunity to rank both pages for separate keywords? Will this strategy work, or should I just look at combining both of these pages into 1 ? If so, would I then just build out blog content around my keyword list? Many thanks

Point an expired domain name to web page on website.
I've found an expired domain name with the words Electrical Inspection. its a .co.uk domain. Apparently this key word has a search query of over 1000 per 12 month. I was thinking of purchasing it and having it redirect to one of my pages which is for electrical installation condition reports which is basically an electrical inspection. Is it worth purchasing and pointing to the page on my website (redirect) and how can I go about making it known to google? submit to webmaster tools and create a blog to do with EICR's? thanks for any help and advice Kev ps I found it on https://www.expireddomains.net

How to determine if you have same site pages competing for rankings?
One of my client's sells career assessment tests / personality tests. The site includes a shop with detailed product pages for the tests and also has lengthy informational pages describing the science behind the different tests, etc as they are pretty indepth and hard to understand for someone who is new to them. The site also includes a blog that has 500 or more posts, all career related... some of them referencing products. My concern is: We'd like the product or information pages to rank for SERPs. Some of the blog posts are ranking instead for their top target keywords. My question is: Is there an easy way to determine which pages on a site are competing for the same keyword? And what is the best way to correct this issue and ensure the correct page gets targeted? I was thinking adding a noindex to the pages would be the best way. Advice is greatly appreciated!

How do I use Google Keyword in onsite seo?
Hello to all, I wanted to ask if I am doing this correctly. So I own a Bernese mountain dog website I used the google keyword research tools to view keyword ideas. I listed my results below. So my questions are: 1 - Bernese Mountain Dog Puppies (the keyword) blow away the other keywords. So when you are looking at your sites most popular keywords, do you make the most popular keyword your homepage? Because it gets the most link juice? Like would you build the homepage around the best keyword instead of branding - like the company name etc? Or does it matter? Basically just as long as you use it for one page? 2 - When you have keywords that have parts of other keywords, is it safe to use the longer keyword because it has parts of the other phrases? Such as Bernese mountain dog puppies for sale is a part of Bernese mountain dog puppies for sale in Colorado. So if you use bernese mountain dog puppies for sale in Colorado, it will also hit the bernese mountain dog puppies for sale? ( without the In Colorado) What type of strategy would you use for this type of situation? 3- Lastly, and thank you for your time - I watched a video from a grey hat seo guy. He said to take a keyword or phrase like say Colorado home builders, create a page like example.com/Colorado-home-builders/ Then make you h1 tag - The Best Colorado Home Builders Add The Best Colorado home builders to your meta description and one more time in your h2 tag Then create a Bold, and italic The Best Colorado Home Builders in your unique content paragraphs. So my question is - is this grey hat and bad? Or the standard? I do not want to get hit for over optimizing. So just wanted to ask you opinion first. In the end, I truly thank you for taking the time to read my questions. I appreciate everyone's help and greatly appreciate your knowledge. So my results look like this | bernese mountain dog puppies | 590 | Low | $0.45 | 1% | |
Keyword Research | | Berner
| bernese mountain dog puppies for sale | 90 | High | $0.42 | 9% | |
| bernese mountain dogs | 90 | Low | $0.37 | 0% | |
| bernese mountain dog puppies for sale in colorado | 30 | Medium | $0.76 | 0% | |
| bernese mountain dog breeders in colorado | 20 | Medium | $0.32 | 0% | |
| bernese mountain dogs colorado | 40 | Low | $0.08 | 0% | |
| bernese mountain dog puppy breeders | 10 |0 -
Is KEI metric still commonly used by SEOs
I'd like to ask about the KEI, is it used by now? and is it really matters ? I guess # of results by Google is not a good metric to decide if the keyword is good or not? I'd really appreciate your inputs
