Hi, I've been putting some efforts to rank well for "San Antonio Wedding Photographer". I am ranked ok for that but not so on "San Antonio Wedding Photographers". My website is http://www.soobumimphotography.com/ So now, I am trying to rank for "San Antonio Wedding Photographers" instead since Google auto fills wedding "photographers" in search term. Question - Should I change my site title and some post / page title etc? What's the best way to do this? Thank you Soobum

What's the best way to find ranking keywords and phrases? I have tried Google Keyword Tool but it just doesn't do the job for me (or I'm using it wrong). My main focus is people who are looking for energy saving tricks, but I'm not sure if this is the right keyword / keyphrase. The goal of this question is not to get other people to do the research for me, but rather to find the right tools and usage of those tools for the job.

All In One SEO Plugin & Titles

When I first started blogging I hired a company to design and develop my website. They provided SEO training which I've followed religiously but now I'm starting to wonder (after researching more and more about SEO) if by following these guidelines I may be placing myself in jeopardy. I write a blog about desserts. Keywords + Country?

Hey guys, Let's say that I'm doing on-site SEO for a website that sells football shirts. This website targets 5 different countries. We only have a .com domain and no other country specific domains will be added at this point. When I choose the keywords, do I opt for product name + country or only product name? football shirts france or football shirts? Some info: Countries have been added in the title of the pages. Keyword with or without stress?

hi to everyone, I'm new here I'm doing some research for keywords related to sofa in brazil. Portuguese use lot of stress in writing words. there are many important keywords that should be written with the stress. For example: sofás but I'm measuring many more researches for the same word without stress (see attachment). This is the same for many other key phrases with 2 or 3 words. in 90% of the case, key phrases without stress has many more researches Now I have 3 questions: results are very similar for these two keys. are really two different keys or are they the same for google? what number to keep for total search? the higher? the sum between the two? what keywords I have to use in the pages? Help finding some decent keywords

Keyword Research, Feels like my head is about to explode in 1.2...

Hello fellow Mozzers! I've been reading quite a few books and forums on SEO for past few years. Finally a few weeks ago I decided to dive into SEO a lot more seriously and start building and optimizing our ecommerce site. We sell brand name servers, workstations, storage and related replacement and upgrade parts for them. I've read many articles, browsed all the popular SEO forums, watched SEO training videos religiously. I'm happy to say that I now (more or less) understand how to optimize a site/page for SEO (On page optimization, unique content/blogging, link building, social sharing, off page optimization, etc...) However the biggest challenge I'm have with is Keyword Research (which I think is the first and most crucial step). I can't seem to find a tool that will help me find good keywords/phrases that I can target in my business profile. Since its an ecommerce site, and we have about 2500 products which means about 2500 pages. the good thing about product pages is that there are part numbers which get searched quite often so I have no problem with selecting keywords for product pages, however for the home page its a NIGHTMARE. I searched the word "server" in Google keyword tool, and it shows that it has 40,000,000 monthly global searches with low competition. That's great news (right? high search volume, low competition) However when I google server or servers, the 1st page is filled with sites like: Dell, HP, IBM, Wikipedia, and a few more with a very high domain authority and thousands of links. So I'm assuming trying to target "servers" as my keyword for the homepage is probably a bad idea, correct? When I google "buy server" i get mostly irrelevant content like "how to start a calling card business, a few articles(also irrelavant). I guess my question is this: Can you please provide some advice or information on the keyword research articles and/or tools you use? Something that would provide relevant keywords based on a main keyword. Or am I not using the Google Keyword Tool properly I also checked out our main competitors site to see which keywords they use, to get an idea, but when trying to google the keywords they're targeting they're not being displayed on Google for those keywords on the first few pages. We are almost done building our new site which will have a few tools like online server configurator, Q&A section, Server Talk (Forum), Quick Product Finder(Suggests products based on entered criteria) and a few more Which most of our competitors don't have, and I pretty much have an idea on which keywords to use for those pages and sections of the site, but I am completely clueless on the keywords to use for the home page. Any help is greatly appreciated! Also forgot to add, should I just use the company name and a few simple keywords for the home page like servers, buy servers and then write weekly or biweekly article that are server related like Does a small business need a server? How do I choose a server for my business? Should I upgrade my server or buy a new one? Do I collocate or host in-house? Should I virtualize my server? Obviously adding links to products and services within these articles and try to create brand awareness that way?

Can i get some insight as to why this is #1 on google?

So... our results keep slipping little by little. I am trying to understand the rhyme and reason to it all (aren't we all?)
Since Penguin, one website seems to have strongly benefited from the update. And I can't seem to understand why except maybe for the lack of seo efforts which resulted in no bad efforts.
Search for "chaussures grandes tailles" in google.FR, you will find what I am talking about. This is what I seemed to have gathered. The #1 result has the KW in both their title and description is using blatant keyword stuffing (ie just astring of keyword with no phrase structure), has done little with links or optimization, does have 300 facebook fans (but they seem to have been bought according to the last 3 months activity). Text is very limited on their site. They have a lower authority than other websites.They are also a newcomer as far as the market goes. It is important to note, that they also rank #1 on many of the related field keyword or top 3. So according to google this is a "winning" website as of now.and that is why it grabbed my attention. The #2 results, is a big website, equivalent to zappos or the like, seems to have redone their optimization following penguin and to me seems to do a pretty good job at writing "natural" content for the user, not for google, as much as possible without killing their seo chances. Their authority should be good, and tons of people are linking to them. They also do use a lot of PR blog/article.(legit ones though I am not sure about before). They invest heavily in adwords and ads altogether (tv/radio/etc..). They are the big guy but are not specialized on this keyword. The lower results, are not as representative, a mish mash of good and bad but all are specialized stores in this market including mine. They all get some ranking on some of the major keywords but not nearly as much as that #1 website which is killing it all (see semrush for more on it). So I thought I would focus on these 2 top (neither of which are mine) to start a conversation.Though feel free to comment if you have any hindsight on any of them. Can anyone explain to me why the #1 can possibly be #1? I would love to hear everyone's opinion on the matter.
I fully understand that in the long run that #1 might not be #1 forever, but then again it has been several months now at least and the longer that last, the more likely they are to gain new (possibly repeat) customers...

On-Page optimization for the Long-Tail

Does anyone have any thoughts about on-page optimization for the long-tail of keywords? I know, I know, the way you capture long-tail searches is by having lots of content. The problem is that I can't convince some of my clients to do anything with content marketing. Even so, I'm noting that as much as half the leads for some small business clients comes from long-tail searches. Meanwhile I spend all my time trying to get their pages to rank for a one or two terms. It seems like there must a scientific way to approach increasing long-tail traffic on pre-existing pages. I'm now experimenting with looking at the frequency of words that appear in searches that the client only receives 1 visit from. Together these one-offs amount to about half the traffic. For instance if I have data like this: Visits Search 1 Training help for my German Shepard 1 German Shepard resources in St. Paul 1 German Shepard clubs etc. etc. Then it makes sense to add some language about German shepards, and perhaps try for anchor text with the 'german shepard' match. Perhaps add a photo with alt text of German Shepard etc. The trouble with this technique is that my main target term for the page might be something like "Dog Training Twin Cities". If I try to increase my long-tail traffic about german shepards I risk creating a frankenpage! I'd love to know if any one else has tried to approach this problem of maximizing long-tail traffic on existing pages without hurting UX. Thanks!

Image Description & Image Title

Our site allows us to update via WYSIWYG editor. When adding photos to our pages it gives us the option to add (Image Description) & (Image Title). When optimizing a single page how should we properly be filling these in? Should Image title be keyword we are trying to rank for? If so, should we be following proper keyword density ratio to avoid keyword stuffing? Thank you

How do I make sure my homepage ranks better than my 2nd page when I need the same keywords for both? I don't want them competing against each other for keywords.

I seen here on SeoMoz something about more than one page having the same keywords so they don't compete against each other for the same keywords that makes sense to me. But I would like my main page (homepage) to be ranked better over time rather than the 2nd page or do I just not care about the second page ranking at all and don't SEO the page very well? ,Both pages have similar content so I need the keywords for both. So im very confused on what to do with the second page. Thanks in advance to any helpful answers, i am a newbie when it comes to SEO.

Do you have any idea about WHY we have the Best Page Authority, Page Linking, domain authority and Root domain Linking Root Domains and we are are the 6th place on ranking.. Google ranks better apps over articles

Hello, On my quest to recover from Goolge´s updates I found out that the serps show apps and software downloads ranking better than content (articles or similar) for one of my most popular keywords. When the ads above the fold update hit my site (I can only assume that because of the date) I lost about 50% of my traffic). This keyword dopped from the first or second position to a steady fifth or sixth page position. Today, I was trying to research which sites outranked me and to my surprise no result in the first 15 position was an article, just apps and software downloads. It is not that is wrong. Let´s say that we are talking about an area similar to instagram software (although it doesn´t rank in this keyword). I´m not asking about my site. I simply want to know if the web apps (social sites) and mobile apps are taking over the content in serps. Is it that now you can´t go for a high place in the rankings (for certain keywords) if you are not a social site or an app? Thanks!

I am really confused about how geolocation and search works. For example, I can search "Air Conditioning Repair" in Google and will get local search results depending on my geolocation. How do I set up keywords in SEOmoz "Air Conditioning Repair" and get the ranking depending on the users geolocation? Do I have to have the keyword "Sacramento Air Conditioning Repair" to get the same results if I search within the vicinity of Sacramento with the term "Air Conditioning Repair." 3 monitoring tools are giving me the simular SERP ranking position but manual searching and traffic are telling me something different. What gives?

I have looked up SERP position in 4 different tools, 3 out of the 4 (Raven, SEO Moz, and Google webmaster tools) are telling me that the site is ranking in the 90s range. When I manually search for the term (when I'm logged out), the site lists on the 1st pages. I also see it listed as the #9 spot when I use SEO Books Rank Checker. Last month, Google webmaster says that the term got us 200 impressions. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks

How does Title keyword order, number and puctuation factor into rankings?

Hi, I am new at SEO and really trying to dive right in and do some thorough keyword research before I put my efforts into on-page optimization. In my research I have found a bunch of keywords that have low competition and decent search volume for my niche. I was thinking that I could be quite clever to combine a few of these phrases together in order to target them all. I realize that the first few positions for title tag placement hold extra value so I do not want to overdo it with my word choices and therefore not rank for my keywords. For example "pink girls room" has the highest (but not a ton) searches out of the keywords that I have found. "pink room decor" is also a decent and relevant keyword. So if my title is "Pink girls room decor" at the beginning of my title will I hurt myself instead of thinking that I am clever enough to get both keywords with one shot. Also, if I add more keywords in a natural way after this important beginning phrase, will it help me get more long tail search terms or will it just dilute my original keywords? Finally, how do search engines view punctuation? I have noticed that when I search for terms myself that Google appears to ignore punctuation.. Does that mean if I am strategic I can get more keyword terms in my title and still sound human by taking advantage of this? Thanks so much!

Check large number of websites for a specific keyword (or its synonym).

I have a large list of websites, and I need to check if a specific keyword (or its synonym) is present on each of these websites. Ideally I would like to receive CSV/XML/JSON output to import the results into CRM software. I was thinking to use Google Custom Search to query each website and see if there's any results. How do I find traffic for local keywords?

We're having trouble finding reliable traffic numbers for long-tail local keywords (ex. - "computer repair green bay"). We tried using Google Insights but it doesn't display long-tail keyword information, only broad keyword keywords searched for in a certain locale. We also tried using Wordtracker, but that hasn't been too reliable either. Is there a single tool that provides real traffic for local long-tail keywords?

On Page Optimization

Hey its question time for me today.....lol, I an using the SEOmoz On Page Optimization Tool and so far I have optimized my home page for one term"web design edinburgh" started at an F now its an A (Good Boy!) So I wasn wondering what poeples views were on the best way to do this? What I was thinking about doing was optimizing my site for 1 main Keyword/ Phrase per page. For instance Home Page - Keyphrase - "web design edinburgh" Web Design Page - "Web Development" not sure to make it" web development" or "web development edinburgh" SEO page - "Search Engine Optimisation" and so on........ Sorting Wordtracker data

I am new to Wordtracker and would like to call upon experienced users to help me with sorting data. Lets say I have developed half a dozen niches from a single top-level category or seed keyword. What approach do you use to pull all of the data together and eliminate overlapping keywords from the separate niches? Do you combine all of the exported csv's into one spreadsheet first? Anyone have a suggestion for a simplistic (scaled down) version of a keyword research tool that I can put on our website? We need our clients to be able to perform some basic keyword research on their own without getting lost in the details of something too robust. How many keywords/key phrases to use on main page

Hi all! I'm a bit new to the SEO process. My question is about keywords. Now, I realize that in a perfect world you would want to target one keyword/key phrase per page - or so I've heard. How many keywords/key phrases should I target for my main page? I'm working on a Dallas real estate firm website. They focus on luxury real estate in Dallas, high rises, ect.. Spammy Industry Keyword Research

Hi everyone, First question posted on here. I have spent a lot time this week going through videos and discussions since I signed up here earlier this week. We're just starting in a particular niche that is powerful (home-based businesses), but EXTREMELY spammy with all the at-home opportunities from stuffing envelopes, to MLM, etc. Then there's the other side which is not as spammy, but just not an overall good business model with the in-home Tupperware, candle, and makeup party sales companies. The people that we help and serve are just people who want to start up a part-time or full-time home-based business doing what they love. Maybe it's a dad who loves golf and would like to start a golf store on Ebay or a lady who is great at making stuff and wants to open an Etsy shop or start selling her goods at craft fairs. Our program is more about teaching them how to start a real home-based business that can either earn them a profit either part-time or fulltime while also doing what they love and spending time with their family. My biggest question right now as we begin the Keyword Research and SEO process part of this, is how do we go about doing the keyword research for this while also dealing with a spammy niche? All the research I've been doing for home-based businesses comes back to all the ugly examples I gave above and that isn't the type of people that we're a good fit for. I appreciate all your help and guidance in advance. Been doing web development for 10+ years but finally taking the tiger by the throat and actually learning the SEO/SEM piece myself.

Is 15 keywords enough to properly optimize content for an entire domain?

I have recently moved in charge of a 95 page web portal that has around 8 categories of content. The SEO agency I am touch with has sent me a proposal that says they will do on-page optimization for this domain for 15 keywords. Should that be enough? What should be my expected outcome? My promise to the client is that core pages from his website will show up early on the SERPs. If they can do this, I am fine with it. Do you think I am getting the right deal? Should I be asking for more?

I'm setting up a PPC campaign for a real estate agency in Dallas that focuses on luxury high rise condos and homes. I have no idea where to start on setting up an Adwords campaign.. Using city location in keywords?

i am trying to figure out what would be good keywords to optimize for an orthodontist. i looked up the keywords "his city + orthodontist" or " his city + braces" and the google adword tool tells me there are no monthly searches for those terms. i am not sure what i can optimize for if no one is searching for the most obvious keywords.

Targeting nearly identical keywords

Hi, I have a website selling home furniture and I can't work out the best way to target keywords relating to sofas/couches. They both have very similar search volume and so I would like to target both. However, I obviously can't create different pages for couches and sofas as this will likely be seen as duplicate content, I also think it wouldn't read well if the content swaps between using couch and then sofa. Where can I find lists of high probability of winning keywords

Keyword research can take a lot of time. Suppose you are not sure of what keywords you want to rank for but just want to see a list of phrases that have 500-5000 searches a day, low cost and low competition because you are looking for phrases that interest you for which it will be easier to rank close to #1 in google. Besides AdWords Keyword Tool, are there sites that specialize in this?

Hit by Panda, what's the quickest way to remove content

One of our client's sites got hit by panda/penguin. after careful investigation we found that the site had 6,900 pages indexed out of which about 300 are actual pages (pages with quality content and add value to the user). Needless to say we had to remove all those pages. Most of the thin pages were on the blog section of the site so we removed the WP which was on www.mysite.com/blog/. My question is how can i speed up the process for Google to realize that i have taken all those this pages down. i have fetched the homepage and all linked pages via "Fetch as Google Bot" on WMT. is there anything else i can do to speed this up???
