  • Hi there, I own a multilingual website. The main market is Spain but I have  clients frum UK and France. In the linkbuilding strategy....should the links I obtein come from Spain (main market)? What's the point here? Thanks.

  • Hi everyone, I noticed today that we are getting quite a few backlinks from a blog that promotes some rather seedy ideals (it's called zoklet). Specifically, they are linking to some products we sell that prevent shoplifting, so I'm drawing some conclusions about their motives. I don't think the blog itself is spammy, but I'm just assuming that it's a bad neighborhood and we should distance ourselves from it. The only reason I'm questioning the disavow is because of the warnings involved and that it might affect our rankings if we do it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

  • What should be the ration of inbound link between Home page and Internal pages?  And also wanted to clear my doubt, suppose My website is related to Technology niche with different technologies like PHP, Java etc. Is this better idea to submit internal PHP page link in PHP related directories? Although I know that in the most of the directories have very large number of categories.

  • Hi all, I just wanted to ask you all about backlinks that redirect to your site. I recently used Link Detox Tools to carry out a link analysis. However, some of our backlinks are redirecting to our homepage. Is this ok? Why is this happening? Thanks guys!!!

  • Hi all, I just wanted to check with you all about removing links from spammy directories. We have 100s of links from directories like this http://www.groundanchors.co.uk/ all the same layout and registered to the same person. I just wanted to know if our rankings will be affected in any way by removing these links - bearing in mind there are 100s of them. Many thanks.

  • Hello, We're interested in rounding out our backlink profile with a couple of industry association links that cost $100 or less for our niche. It's for a small ecomerce business owned by a family. Without revealing the niche, how do I find them?

  • I recently heard someone say that if your site is on a lot of link lists (example "Useful Links" pages) this can hurt you. How likely is a Google penalty if your site is listed on tons of .edu link lists?

  • I've come across a few curated lists on different websites that are related to my site. Some of them are just lists without links. Should I reach out and request a listing? I figure why not, It's not a link but is still a mention. Do mentions hold any value with search engines? Thanks -Brandon

  • Awhile back I listed our website here: http://directory.r-tt.com/ I spotted one of our competitors there and I went ahead and listed our site. Now it seems that we are listed on 37 pages on the site. The titles that you can use for links to your site are very SEO friendly. Should I remove my site from this directory? We've experienced a recent drop in traffic from Google and I'm trying to pin point the source.

  • So we are in the middle of a hiring blitz looking for sales agents in different areas of the country. One of our internal sales agents used a program called Job-a-matic which appears to be a product developed or sponsored by SimplyHired. This software seems to have put our job posting on a lot strange sites really unrelated to our industry and they job description such as: truck driver jobs teen jobs white collar jobs jobs a go-go database admin jobs medical coding and many many more When I Google our company name I see all of these listing on pages 3, 4, 5 etc . Is it possible that Google may see these listings as spammy or paid links? It appears as if these listing were just automatically generated and not really controlled in anyway. I'm worried that they could have generated a penalty as we did experience a significant drop in traffic. Thanks -Brandon

  • Hello everyone, Just a quick question, say if I find some websites which are relevant to my service and they have articles I can comment on and include my URL , will these help for SEO? The websites also have a good PR rating higher than 3 does this count towards anything? Would these links be classed 'follow' or 'nofollow' links - could something please explain what this means aswell. Thanks very much!

  • The site in question is: http://Ellenensher.com We are wondering why a powerful edu link is not being counted in opensiteexplorer. Is it not being indexed? Or is it some other issue? It shows up in webmaster tools and is a PR 5 link. Let us know if you have any ideas on this issue! http://cba.lmu.edu/facultyresearch/meetthefaculty/ellenensherphd/ Thanks!

  • Since all the updates from Google I'm unsure as to whether I should be pursuing good quality back links and how many per month?for my website www.polesandblinds.com . We don't have a very large back link profile and its at least half of some of our competitors, we are currently active on blogging and the 4 main social sites. Many Thanks I look forward to your suggestions/advice/criticism.

  • So what I don't get is that Google says it will not trust and ignore these Spam type links so you lose only the value from those specific links. So if someone was hit with a penalty why should you bother to write a reconsideration letter if Google is supposedly just ignoring the value of the poor links anyway? On the other hand in their message they do state if you are able to remove any of the links you can resubmit --- this is sending conflicting messages. Back in the day you get your entire site hurt, now it seems like it can potentially just be a few keywords or pages.Does it make sense with the new roll out  in March 2013 to still do a reconsideration request?

Therefore I would like to put a local linkbuilding company per country to help us get more organic traffic. Could anyone point me in the right direction ? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Just curious, is there any SEO value if another site/blog mentions my site but doesn't create a hyperlink.  My site happens to have a lot of amateur bloggers who write "we used TVFoodMaps for our trip" but don't actually link to my site.  I'm wondering if that does anything for my SEO value and should I contact them and ask for the reference to be turned into a link? Thoughts?

  • I am currently concentrating on 8 keywords, for e.g (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). I will be writing blogs with 2 of any related keywords present in it. I am thinking to post 5 blogs on 5 different platforms as (wordpress.com, Squidoo, Typepad, Tumblr, blogger) respectively. I am thinking a strategy as: Monday: Keyword A,B on Wordpress/ C,D on Squidoo/E,F on Typepad/G,H on Blogger/ A,C on Tumblr. Tuesday:C,D on Wordpress/E,F on Squidoo/ etc.... and will rotate these keywords through out the week and the cycle restarts on Monday. The URL for every keyword will be different and relevant to that keyword. I need quick suggestion on this topic..Please..

  • Hello, here are my questions. 1:Should I be internal linking back to my home page from every subpage or lower page on my site. Or, is that going overboard? 2: If i'm internal linking back to a page with an anchor text that has no relation to the page, will that pass less relevance? So for  example lets say the current page is about mazda cars. Then, I link to a page about ford cars with the anchor text Mazda cars that would pass less relevance, right? Thanks for your help

  • Hi There, Presently I have many blogs across a range of domains, each one targeting the client/type of user interested in that product (or service in this case).  I originally set up this strategy to use the content of each blog to create a "link juice farm" (our products are educational courses so have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT target market depending on the course area), which in turn links to the related page/course on our main site. My question is, is this a viable strategy, or should I be focusing on building content only on my main site blog with subcategories for each product? Link juice farming on product/client specific blogs, or focus on content for each course niche on main site, that is the question?! Thanks in advance for you insights here people.  I really appreciate you taking the time.

  • I changed some links of my website and deleted some links and created some links. After that I generated a sitemap again and re-submitted to google webmaster. I used 301 redirects for deleted or changed links and there are no broken links on my site (this is confirmed) sitemap was generated from here http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ in my sitemap 285 links are present but google webmaster is showing that only 218 links have been indexed. Also my traffic felt down considerably since last 2 days ever since i submitted my new sitemap. Also when I searched for my sitename in google, it showed top 6 results within the site now it is just showing top 2 results. for reference my website is www.geekwik.com HAVE I DONE ANYTHING WRONG? OR IS THERE A MORE AUTHENTIC PLACE TO GENERATE A SITEMAP. REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP ON THIS.

  • I'm kind of new to SEO and have the following question. If you're say a wedding supplier and are looking to get listed on some of the many online weddings directories out there, for example: http://www.thebridalfile.co.uk Most of these sites charge for an ad with a link, would this come under the banner of paid links and therefore be damaging form an SEO point of view? Nearly all wedding directories generate a substantial part of their revenue from these types of ads. Obviously the ad itself will generate traffic but I'm wondering whether the search engines will see these as paid links which will be penalised? or is this different to simply paying someone to get your links on their network of sites which, as I understand it, is the issue that google have with paid links? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Hi everyone, I am starting my link building campaign after parting with many an SEO company.  I have been able to establish some links which I have used my targeted keywords as anchor text.  I have also linked these to the relevant product pages on my site.  I am now however, wondering if I should have link them just to my main domain name?  My site only has a rank of 21 so I just wondered if I should at the start be building keyword links to the main domain? I am also building branded links to the main domain as well as doing keyword linking too. Thanks Michelle

  • Howdy! In the midst of communicating with Google because of a robots.txt issue, we had a bit of a backfire of sorts and received a notice of unnatural links.  It's not a horror story or anything.  It's seems more like, "Hey, before we address your other issues, here is something you should clean up" although I don't dare put words in Google's mouth. A few years ago we hired an SEO company which shall remain nameless who did some anchor text blog posts for us which at the time, we had no idea was an issue. There aren't an enormous number of these links hanging around, but checking our anchor text, in OSE, we saw that there are around 50 or so.  We decided to use removeem.com as an easy way to request removal of these links. However, on first run, removeem returned a large number of anchor text links beyond just these obvious ones that are actually natural links from users, fans or those that sell their goods on our website.  Examples of these anchor text links would be: "DEMO" or "Find My Products Here" or "Home Page" http://www.mysite.com/goodstuff/foryoutubuy/html We are a media selling site and we do have a lot of download sites that attempt to "share" content and link back to us via a DEMO link, etc.  While these aren't the greatest sites in the world, they are nevertheless natural links.  Heck, they are pirating our goods, shouldn't we at least garner the link juice from them?!!? 😉 So, questions:  Should we remove all of these links as removem.com suggests or only remove the ones that are unnatural and clarify with google that these other links are natural? Thanks for your help! Craig

This is how it looks like: http://villasdiani.com/?db The webmaster of the site said that he ads (?db) on the end so as we would see on our analytics the traffic from his site.. Also the link is from footer...is this good or it does not have value

  • We've had trouble with one of our brand websites for years now in SERP rankings. When I first started working here 3 years ago I stated that the site lacks a content foundation to build on. A large number of our pages do not have proper text content or had duplicate content, there was no consideration of keyword usage in any title or body copy, and there was absolutely no reason for anyone to want to link to the site. I'm not a copy writer so I've pushed to get one hired, if even just on a freelance basis, to at least get some kind of content on the pages that I could work our keywords into. I'm hoping that soon they will finally start listening to me and we'll get that content in place. However, even with the content we have the problem of our market not having an impartial authority site that we could be linked from to help us build our own authority. The current authorities for our keywords are competitors. They've been doing a better job with their SEO and for a lot longer than us. The nature of our business restricts us from displaying pricing on our site which I feel is another major strike against us when it comes to organic link backs. We do not sell direct, all of our sells are made through authorized dealers and each dealer has their own territory that does not compete with each other. Additionally we do not have a MSRP and even if we did our dealers would explode if we advertised it on the site since there is such a wide range of dealer pricing. The only good thing we have going for our site currently is a new redesigned layout that makes it easier for users to navigate and get the information they need. I feel it is still to cluttered but I have to make the brand manager happy and that person insists on adding clutter that is not necessary. Additionally we added a new tool to the website, a custom tool that uses javascript and canvas to allow visitors to build their own product and request a price from their local dealer. The links we have to our site right now are from PR sites and sites that do not have any authority in regard to our target keywords. A while back we asked our dealers to help out by adding a link to our site from theirs. This was initiated by a third party company who had delusions of understanding SEO and so the links our dealers have work great for ranking us for our brand name but not so much in regard to the keywords we want to place for. Plus not every dealer is doing it. Our top competitors have over 3x the links to their sites than we do so we have a lot of catching up to do in that respect. And when I look at the sites that are linking to them it's, again, news and PR sites mostly. My line of thinking currently is to get our content issues under control and get all of our dealers linking to our site with properly constructed anchor text. I'm also trying to push to have more and more frequent press releases sent out to a wider range of sites than we currently target. I want to submit the customizer tool we developed (6 months of work and improvements/additions to be done in the future, so we're kinda proud of it) to sites that like to link to such things but so far I've not been able to find any. I'm just not searching for the right thing to find them is my guess. A few other ideas I've had is to reduce the page depth of many of our pages, mainly our product pages since they're 4 levels deep right now. I'm not sure if that's worthwhile though. How important is the url structure and keyword usage in them and how many levels should I try to keep from exceeding? We have an infographic on our site that generated a few links, are things like that really worth the time and effort though? Would it be better to focus our attention on something else instead? What I want to know is if my thinking is right and if there is anything else we should be doing that I haven't thought of yet. Or if I'm off base with all of this and we need to be focusing on something else entirely. Thanks in advance for any help/insight!

I am worried that our site will lose significant traffic if we dont build any new links while waiting for them to remove links that caused our site to be penalized. What are your thoughts?

Now my question is this, does this count? will google even crawl the comments? can I aid the crawling process somehow? Any advice on creating relavent back-links is much appreciated. Thank you

  • Hey guys, The site i am working on is not necessarily in a totally niche market, however when I analyze the links that the competitors have for our target keywords all that I see is pr releases, article submissions and predominately directory listings.  I am still learning SEO so bare with me, but I was going to start my campaign trying to guest blog and provide good content on well ranked sites.  I was hoping my competitors link building campaigns would give me an insight as to where to go? I am now wondering if I am taking the right route. A little re-assurance would go a long way 🙂
