  • the page hasn't been spammed. - links are natural - onpage grader is  perfect - there are useful high ranking articles linking to the page...pretty much everything is okay.....also all of my websites pages are okay and none of them has disappeared only this one ( the most important category of my site. )

  • Hello I'm running into a strange issue with at least one of my client's video. The video is posted on Facebook. When searching for the video on Google, the SERP shows a completely wrong, and inappropriate, thumbnail image. (And in one case the preview video starts playing within Google SERP.) It also seems that Google is indexing various countries' facebook page for the same video separately (it-it.facebook.com, fr-fr.facebook.com, etc). Note that only the thumbnail and preview video within Google are wrong; if you click on the link, you see the correct video and page. I hesitate to divulge the actual client video, but there are some reports on Google's search community about the same behavior: Here's one that stargs back in March: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/33760205?hl=en and a more recent one: https://support.google.com/websearch/thread/71452151?hl=en It looks increasingly like a bug in some google algorithm, but nobody at google seems to acknowledge that. I've unpublished the original video from FB and submitted an 'outdated content' removal to Google, which is pending. In the meantime, my questions for our group of experts here: Has anyone else experienced this and any other suggestionso n how to fix? If we assume that this is not a google bug: how could a malicious actor or black-hat SEO influence Google's algorithms to cause this? Thanks, mickey

  • I have a website that has recently been removed from Bing's index, but can't figure out why. The website isn't new, and it is indexed just fine on Google. These are the steps I've tried: The website is verified in Bing Webmaster Tools and successfully submitted the sitemap. I tested the URL to ensure that Bingbot is allowed to crawl the site I submitted URLs to Bing via the URL Submission tool There isn't a "noindex" on the site preventing it from being indexed When I do a URL Inspection, an error message comes up saying "The inspected URL is known to Bing but has some issues which are preventing us from serving it to our users. We recommend you to follow Bing Webmaster Guidelines." I contacted Bing to ask whether the website was removed in error, but received a reply that the website doesn't comply with Bing's quality guidelines, but they wouldn't go into detail as to which guidelines the website isn't meeting. The website URL is https://www.pardeehospital.org. Can anyone offer any advice or insight as to why Bing won't index our site?  Thank you!

  • Hi Moz community, I hope everyone is well. I would like to ask for your advice on how to show a Google Business listing in both the UK and US for our brand. I understand that you can add multiple locations to your Google listing under the 'Manage Locations' tab but I wasn't quite sure how it worked in practice.  I have a couple of questions below: If we have 2 registered locations/offices (one in the UK and one in the US) are we able to create 2 separate locations that will show our business listing correctly in the right-hand margin when people search for our brand in the US and UK respectively? If so, when a user finds our business listing in the US, are we able to serve them our US website version when they click the 'Website' button, as opposed to showing them our UK website?  Our US website has been created as a sub-directory from our main UK site and can be seen as: www.example.com/us/ I hope someone is able to help, and thank you in advance.

  • Hi all, We have a customer who currently uses Square for their in-store point-of-sale system as well as for their e-commerce website. From my understanding, a Square site is a watered-down version of Weebly, and is proving to be highly restrictive from an SEO and content structuring standpoint. It's been an uphill battle to try and get traction for their site in SERPs. Would it be a bad idea to move the entire Square online store to a subdomain, and install WordPress on the root domain? This way their online store would remain as-is, but the primary pages on the site would be on WordPress which would give us a lot more control over the content. I just want to make sure this doesn't negatively impact their SEO. Thanks!

  • Hey there Moz community! This is the first time I ask a question here so please forgive me if I miss any forum etiquette. I am managing SEO for an educational site which is built in React Js, and so far much of the job has been keyword research and site optimization. The site still has slow PageSpeed though. The Issues  - 4 weeks ago we published 20 or so content pieces, I had pre-prepared title tags and meta descriptions. But when we released the content there was a programming error that made all of the pages show another title tag for all 20 pages instead of the pre-prepared individual title tags. I noticed this after 3 days and the issue was fixed within 6 days, but by then Google had crawled and indexed the pages. And now I can't get Google to change to the pre-prepared tags no matter what I do! I've tried changing the content, changing the URL of one of the pages, and I've sent Google spiders to re-crawl the pages multiple times. The super weird thing is that the correct title tag shows in the 'navigation bar/tabs bar' on google chrome: But NOT when I view the source code for the page: Yesterday I was taking a walk in the park and I just couldn't stop thinking about it (it is really starting to get to me by now since nothing works), so I ran back home and looked closely at one of these pages in the Google search console. And I noticed something I hadn't seen before… BOTH of the title tags can be found in the HTML: Pre-prepared title tag: <title></strong>UK Seat Belt & Car Seat Laws: The Definitive Guide<strong></title> The other title tag (in src section): title=Ace%20The%20DMV%20Permit%20Test%20%26%20Get%20Your%20License Could this be the problem or what do you think? I've understood that Google has automated title tags and that they can choose their own if they think it fits better, but the title tags aren't even close to describing the topic as it is now so it doesn’t make any sense. All answers are greatly appreciated! Your advice is life-saving for a learner like me. P.S. I love SEO but it can be very frustrating sometimes! Thank you very much, Leo

  • Hello experts I have a problem. The main page of my homepage got deranked severely and now I am not sure how to get the rank back. It started when I accidentally canonicalized the main page "https://kv16.dk" to a page that did not exist. 4 months later the page got deranked, and you were not able to see the "main page" in the search results at all, not even when searching for "kv16.dk". Then we discovered the canonicalization mistake and fixed it, and were able to get the main page back in the search results when searching for "kv16.dk". At first after we made the correction, some weeks passed by, and the ranking didn't get better.  Google search console recommended uploading a sitemap, do we did that. However in this sitemap there was a lot of "thin content sites", for all the wordpress attachments. E.g. for every image in an article. more exactly there were 91 of these attachment sites, and the rest of the page consists of only two pages "main page" and an extra landing page. After that google begun recommending the attachment urls in some searches. We tried fixing it by redirecting all the attachments to their simple form. E.g. if it was an attachment page for an image we redirected strait to the image. Google has not yet removed these attachment pages, so the question is if you think it will help to remove the attachments via google search console, or will that not help at all? For example when we search "kv16" an attachment URL named "birksø" is one of the first results

  • Hi, I have an SEO client from Abu Dhabi and when I handover the project - they got only one Google My business page. One month after SEO keyword rankings found to be great. However, from last week onwards, I have noted keywords ranking is dropping.When I checked with their map - one of the keyword map rankings also lost.When I cross-checked their listing - it has been showing -they listed  8 Google my business verification.Using the same website and same phone number - just to make their presence all over Abu Dhabi.My question is -does this affect SEO keyword ranking?

  • My client is ranked #3 for their primary keyword and we want to add FAQs that are educational (ie, related to the technology, not specifically to the company’s products or how to work with the company). Should I add the FAQs to the existing ranking content page? Or to a new dedicated “keyword FAQs” page? I have a LOT, about 40 questions and 4000+words of answer content. And two secondary questions: Many of the FAQs have expanded content on other pages throughout the site. Is it okay to link to that internal content? Is it okay to have multiple FAQ pages? So keyword1 FAQs, keyword2 FAQs...? Thanks so much!

  • We have two environments - product, where login is necessary and where the customers are working. We also have there our help desk, Q&A and knowledge base. Pretty sophisticated page regarding information on a specific topic. We also have our main page where we promote our products, company and events, etc. Main page is www.example.com, where product environment is login.example.com . Does this product environment have an impact on my main page's SEO?

  • At the end of some of our listings in Google search results pages, our old brand name is being suffixed even though it is not in our title tags. For context, we re-branded several months ago, and at that time also migrated to a new domain name. Our title tags have our current brand name suffixed, like "Shop Example Category | Example©". In the Google search results, but not in Bing nor Yahoo, about half of our pages have titles whcih instead look like this: "Shop Example Category | Example© - oldBrandName". The "dash" and the old brand name are not in our title tags, but they are being appended, even when our title tags are fairly long. For example, even with titles at 54 characters (421 pixels), the suffix is being appended. BUT, not with our longer title tags. We are actually OK with the brand name being appended if our title tags are on the shorter side, but would prefer that our current brand name be appended instead of the older one. I realize we could increase the length of all our title tags, and perhaps we may go that route. But, does anyone know where Google would be getting the old brand name to append onto the URLs? We've checked and it is not in our page source (the old brand name is used in our page source in some areas of text and some url paths, but not in any kind of meta tag). Per Google's guidance (https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-do-not-put-organization-schema-markup-on-every-page/289981/) we only have schema for the "Organization" on our home page, and not on every page. So, assuming this advice is correct to not add schema to every page, how can we inform Google of our current brand name so that it stops appending our old brand name on pages?

  • First of all has anyone else not received a response from the help team, ive sent 4 emails the oldest one is a month old, and one of our most used features on moz on demand crawl to find broken links doesnt work and its really frustrating to not get a response, when we're paying so much a month for a feature that doesnt work. Ok rant over now onto the actual issue, on our crawls we're just getting 429 errors because our server has a DOS protection and is blocking MOZ's robot, im sure it will be as easy as whitelisting the robots IP, but i cant get a response from MOZ with the IP.   • A client (healthcare practice) is reporting an incorrect profile image associated with one of their providers (another provider in the same practice). They sent a screenshot. I've been unable to replicate the issue, and Yahoo is only 4% of the search traffic. Questions: Is 4% search traffic from Yahoo roughly normal? Is it lately increasing? I'm finding reports of malware Chrome/Firefox extensions that switches the default search engine to Yahoo search to drive revenue. This client was formerly on Yext, and possibly, someone could have associated the wrong image. Would WhiteSpark or Moz Local be of any help? Do you know a way for us to address the problem? Request a re-crawl from Yahoo or request removal? Thanks in advance.

  • We are running into this issue where we see items 30 -50 appear underneath the article title for google SERP descriptions .   • Hello Mozzzzzzzzzzz I'm currently working on the new link structure for our website. We currently organize our content in sub folder =Main category
    = = Sub category
    = = =Specialty
    = = =  Product main name
    = = = ==Product specific name
    = = = == =Manufacturer Each of them has some potential strong KW and I will be happy to use it on the URL. URL are more than 50 kw long when I use all This are very niche item for which people may refer to them through different names (potential folders) My current concerns will be Should we make long url respecting the structure (Main category)/(Sub category)/(Specialty)/(Product main name)/(Product specific name)/(maufacturer) Should I combine some like (Main category)/(Sub category)/(Specialty)/(Product main name)/(Product specific name)-(maufacturer) Should I keep them simple /(product_main name) Should I keep the main  folders just to display the articles belonging to this category (Main category)/(Sub category)/(Specialty)/(Product main name) and then keep the product under a sub folder only? Any other idea?

  • Hi all, A number of our pages have dropped out of search rankings. It seems they are being marked as "Duplicate, submitted URL not selected as canonical" However, the page Google is choosing as the canonical is totally different - different headings, titles, metadata, content on the page. We are completely mystified as to why this is happening. If anyone can shed any light, it would be hugely appreciated! Example URL is this one:

  • Hello! I have one company which will be operating in two markets, printing and website design / development. I’m planning on building two websites, each for every market. But I’m a bit confused about how to optimize these websites locally. My thought is to use my physical address for one website (build citations, get listed in directories, etc. ) and PO Box for another. Do you think there is a better idea?

  • Hi there, We have a pretty strong organic presence on our consumer facing blog. Around 5.7 million organic clicks Year to Date. It's currently housed in Wordpress on a subdomain. Our team is considering migrating our blog from Wordpress to Sitecore, where our parent organization resides. With that consideration, we're trying to determine if we should preserve the subdomain or move to a subdirectory of the parent brand. Moving to the parent brand would also result in a loss of our custom global nav - we would inherit the global nav of the parent website. We're not concerned about traffic loss risk - we know that we'll lose some but we think the move to subdirectory might be more beneficial in the long run from an SEO perspective. We're mostly concerned about the users getting lost without the global nav specific to the blog. Thoughts/concerns? Thank you!

  • Hello Moz family, After much deliberation, Moz has arrived at the difficult decision to shift away from brand & keyword mentions monitoring as a standalone tool in Fresh Web Explorer. Though we believe in the value of this service for our users, we’ll no longer be supporting it in order to provide more innovative features that better suit the modern needs of SEOs. We will, however, continue to support existing features within the Pro platform that accomplish similar tasks, like link building, content planning, and mentions monitoring. We understand you might have a few questions and have compiled a list of common FAQs below. Within the answers, you will find a number of other resources to help you out. When is Moz sunsetting Fresh Web Explorer? 
    Moz will be sunsetting Fresh Web Explorer on November 10, 2020. At that time, you will no longer be able to access this feature within Moz Pro. This means that there will no longer be the ability in your settings to opt into email alerts from Fresh Web Explorer as the email alerts will discontinue after this date as well. I used Fresh Web Explorer for brand and keyword monitoring across the web. How can I do that now? Though it’s not a direct replacement, setting Brand Rules within a Campaign allow a user to monitor specific keywords in the Link Opportunities section, much like Fresh Web Explorer. By monitoring the links that mention your tracked keywords, but do not link to them, you can easily reach out for link opportunities. It can also help you plan content strategies by understanding what is being discussed within the content of those pages. You can read more about Opportunities within Links here. I used Fresh Web Explorer for link building opportunities. How can I do that now? With Moz’s vast link index you can uncover valuable link prospects, create a solid strategy, and track your progress. Within Link Opportunities in a Campaign, you can understand the domains mentioning your tracked keywords (set within your Brand Rules), but not linking back to you. Link Intersect provides an analysis on who's linking to competitors, but not you, and can help users plan strategic link outreach. You can also use Link Tracking Lists to help track progress for link opportunities you’ve identified through unlinked mentions of your brand or your competitors. Our Keyword Explorer tool also includes a Mentions module. Mentions show you pages that contain the searched keyword and gives you a snapshot of the Page Title and URL. Within Mentions, understand a link’s Mention Authority score, which predicts the authority of the page using a proprietary algorithm, along with a combination of Moz metrics that take both the authority and influence of the page into account. Need help getting started with all of these similar features? Read more here. I used Fresh Web Explorer for content planning. How can I use Moz for that now? There are many ways you can plan your content strategy using Moz. For a high-level understanding of how Moz Pro can help you plan content, take a look at our Beginner’s Guide to Content Strategy here. Otherwise, one way you can understand what is being mentioned within your tracked keywords is through Opportunities in Links within a campaign. This feature helps you get a sense for what type of content is published on the web around your tracked keywords, branded or non-branded. You can then plan similar content as what’s being mentioned. For more information on how to set up Brand Rules in a Campaign, click here. I used Fresh Web Explorer for the email alerts to notify other stakeholders on keyword & brand mentions. Can I do that another way within Moz Pro? We recommend using our Custom Reports to email your stakeholders of tracked mentions on the web. You can set Brand Rules within your Campaign settings for branded or non-branded keywords you’d like to monitor. You can read more on how to set up Custom Reports here. The Moz Pro feature alternatives you suggested aren’t really a direct replacement. Why? We recognize that our feature suggestions are not a direct replacement for brand and keyword mentions monitoring. And, we also understand that this functionality is desired by many of our users. We will be exploring opportunities to include some of the Fresh Web Explorer functionality within future versions of Moz Pro. In the meantime, if you're looking for a direct replacement, we suggest checking out BuzzSumo. Their Monitoring feature provides you a one-stop-shop for monitoring your brand, keywords, and trends across the web. Do I need to do anything before the sunset on November 10, 2020? No. Fresh Web Explorer will simply disappear from the Moz Pro interface. No action is needed on your end. Once retired, you will no longer see the page within Moz Pro and you will no longer receive alert emails that were previously set up from the settings tab within an account. Do you have any content you can point me to that outlines the other ways in which I can find my brand’s mentions in Moz Pro? We sure do! Check out this fantastic Help Hub article that outlines all of the ways you might track, monitor, and analyze your brand’s mentions in Moz Pro.   • Hello colleagues! I have a client who decided to launch a separate domain so they could offer their content translated for other countries.   Each country (except the US/English) content lives in its own country folder as follows: client.com/01/02/zh
    client.com/01/02/tw etc. The problem is that they post the content in US/English on this domain too.  It does NOT have its own folder, but exists righth after the date (as in the above example) Oh, and the content is the same as on their "main" domain so google likes to index that sometimes vs. the original client on the domain where we want the traffic to go. SO, is there a way to say "hey google, please index the US content only on the main domain, but continue to index the translated content in these folders on this totally separate domain?"   • We have been using vanity urls for some of our pages. Mostly the pages that have a vanity URL have a long URL length. But now the problem is, the vanity URL is getting displayed on the search engine when the particular keyword related to the page is entered. I checked the google search console, the vanity URL is indexed and the original URL remains unindexed. What should I do? Is adding 301 redirect to the vanity URLs are solution? Since some of vanity URLs are not redirecting to the original. Some of the original pages are not getting traffic. Also, can using canonical tag help?

  • I do in-house marketing for a medium sized luxury architectural design firm. I have a good understanding of the moz platform and general SEO but would like to findsomeone to provide regular guidance and answer some specific questions regarding our SEO.  Specifically, we want advising on keywords, blog content, and link building.  Ideally we'd like to engage a consultant (remotely) on an hourly basis. We'v have had very poor experiences with big SEO firms so that’s definitely not something we’re looking for. Best,
