RE: Pages crawled dropped like a stone
Here's a post from our help desk on why sometimes only one page is crawled. https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-why-isn-t-my-site-being-crawled-you-re-not-crawling-all-my-pages If that doesn't solve your problem, please send an email to help@seomoz.org. Thanks!

RE: Open Site Explorer Changed?
Marking the question as answered is appreciated, but I also just did that. Will never turn down a thumbs up, but we don't go looking for them either in Q&A.
If you do 200 links worth of guest posting from one domain, we won't show you all of that, but you can still look in Google and Bing and see the links there..and you'd probably have a couple of tired writers on your hands, too.

RE: Open Site Explorer Changed?
OSE shows just 25 links from a single domain, so we can show you a variety of results, as opposed to showing all 13,000 links you might have from the same domain because of a site-wide footer link, for example. I don't know the complete history, but it's been this way for some time.

RE: Why do the results in SEOmoz and OSE for Linking Root Domains differ?
And that is why Ryan is an Oracle. Thanks for volunteering your time on Thanksgiving and helping answer questions, Ryan!

RE: What is Local Citation And how to get high ranking on targeted keyword
For what business type are you advertising? Web design and SEO? They don't show up in local results. Or is this a different type of business? Does it have a unique address and phone number, or is it at a PO box?

RE: Not provided EXPLOSION!!!!
I'd try to see what you could find in common with the visitors. Are people coming from the same city? Are the visiting one specific page? Is there a page that you forgot about that might be ranking for a Thanksgiving-related keyword, which would have had a spike in queries today?

RE: Rank tracker problems
Hi! We are having some issues, and should be caught up by the end of the day Friday (Washington / Pacific Standard Time).
-
RE: Improve rankings for keywords...you can't display!
Can you write the text such that it isn't conspicuous? Do you have any testimonials that may say something (using Ryan's example) like "I was concerned when my mother needed additional help. I saw relatives in an assisted living facility where the staff just didn't care, and I knew that wasn't what I wanted. I'm so glad I found Sunny Hills Senior Community Living" type of thing?
-
RE: Dynamically change anchor text and URLs remotely
Could you give us a little more context or an example of what it is that you would like to do? Also, could you let us know if you care about what the search engines think of this practice?
-
RE: Best way to transfer pagerank from one site to another
Hi! I'd love to know more about this statement. Can you tell me more about how you derived these numbers, or where you found it? A citation or explanation would be really helpful.

RE: What is your best technique of getting .Gov and .Edu links?
I'd still shy away from just "any" edu link. That'll include comments on abandoned blogs where there are literally 4000 other comments with anchor text for drugs and casinos as the user name.

RE: I missed the "Making Your Pitch" webinar
Is now good enough for you? It's up at http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/writing-clear-compelling-proposals

RE: Overly-Dynamic Urls how to fix in SEOMOZ?
Hi Kami,
You might want to ask this in a new post. New posts on old threads don't bump a post in the Q&A forums, so not too many people will see this post (I only knew about it as I was notified from having subscribed last year).
-
RE: Seo category or specific seo page?
If you control the anchor text and linking points for most of the backlinks, that's the wrong way to go about getting a good link, and it isn't going to look very natural to Google.

RE: Local SEO Practice: Creating a Fictitious Business?
I'd totally avoid doing anything like this as well, and think that offering pro bono services would be much better all the way around.
My guess is that Starwood didn't realize that those URLs were live and indexable on the web. I must say that http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/property/features/attraction_detail.html?propertyID=588&attractionId=1000027215 provided my ROFL of the morning though!

RE: Traffic Data Lag
Hi KegOutlet,
This thread is over a year old, so you're having something different happen to you than what happened then. Could you send a note over to help@seomoz.org and we'll investigate? Thanks!

RE: Too Many On-Page Links on a Blog
Dr. Pete wrote a good post about this at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-many-links-is-too-many that should help answer some of your questions.
-
RE: Are Facebook page updates indexed in Google search?
Zack, this thread is about a year and a half old, so you may not get a response and the question may not still be relevant to the OP at this point.

RE: Who wants to help go over my crawl diagnostics via skype?
Hi Zack,
Have you checked out our Help Hub, where we have a lot of information about the Crawl Diagnostics tool and a video that walks you through it some of the features?

RE: What Happens to the Existing YouMoz Blog Post URL If It Is Promoted to the Main SEOmoz Blog?
The social shares are reset, which is a bummer, but I've also seen people often get two entries into Inbound and other social sites since there are now two different URLs.
-
RE: What Happens to the Existing YouMoz Blog Post URL If It Is Promoted to the Main SEOmoz Blog?
The 301s are automagically created for us.
-
RE: What Happens to the Existing YouMoz Blog Post URL If It Is Promoted to the Main SEOmoz Blog?
I honestly don't know if we will have this type of feature in the near future. It's something I'd certainly like, but it may not be something that's easy to code on the back end.
-
RE: What Happens to the Existing YouMoz Blog Post URL If It Is Promoted to the Main SEOmoz Blog?
It's a 301, and the post no longer shows in the YouMoz area, but instead on the main blog.
The one downside is that there's not a category for looking at all YouMoz posts that have been promoted to the main blog.

RE: Clickable links in Google SERP
Here's a blog post Google made about this in 2009 that may help.

RE: 404 error - but I can't find any broken links on the referrer pages
Xenu looks good to me for that page as well. I'd do an-demand crawl for that page/site from http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test and if it's still showing up, send an email to help@seomoz.org so we can look and see if there's an error in the crawl software.
Thanks!

RE: My Question : why site explorer not showing yahoo directory link
Hi Amreen,
It could be that the link is newer and not yet showing up, or that the link is on a less-popular page on the Yahoo directory. Open Site Explorer is not able to crawl all of the web, but tries to crawl the more important pages. We can't get to everything, so that may be the reason it isn't showing.

RE: Duplicate content for www & non-www results
Are you on a Microsoft or Apache server? The instructions are a little different for each, but you'll want to redirect your non-www to your www (or vice versa). You don't want two different URLs for the same content, which is what is happening right now.
-
RE: Why does google show two different titles for my rankings?
For the past couple of years, if not longer, Google has adjusted the title displayed in the SERP based on the query that you are using. This happens even to Apple Computers.
-
RE: 404 crawl errors with all url+domain
Look in your footer at the contact information, right below the information email. There's an http:// missing in front of www.gestoriabarcelona.com.
-
RE: 404 crawl errors with all url+domain
If you download the CSV, there's a column in there for referring URL. It looks like some URLs may have gotten an improper link.
-
RE: Is adding reviews to your site using schema structured data markup considered duplicating content?
I don't know about Schema, but I'd first check with the terms of service of the review site to see if that is allowed. I do remember looking at this a few years back for a review site and finding out it was against their terms.

RE: Error Being Displayed While analyzing keyword Rankings
AdWords doesn't involve the rankings, but we did have a blip with the rankings earlier this morning that should be fixed by now.
-
RE: Directories for backlinks
Hi! A suggestion for next time is to link to the article with the original discussion. This was formatted such that most of the people thought that you were the one who wrote this, rather than Marie.
-
RE: Mest method of creating internal links
Many people argue for Full Path, so that if your content gets scraped you still have your entire URL there and end up getting links to your site.

RE: Where can I upload my logo for custom reports?
Hi Barnabas,
I'm looking at our pricing page right now, and the Branded PDF only has PRO Plus and PRO Elite checked as options. We're quite concerned if there is a place that represents PRO as having white label features. Please let me know if you did find that somewhere, and we will work to fix that ASAP. We truly don't want to misrepresent our services.
-
RE: Where can I upload my logo for custom reports?
Hi! The logo is for PRO Plus and PRO Elite users. Your profile says you're at the PRO level, which I suspect is the problem.

RE: Help - we're blocking SEOmoz cawlers
Hi! Did this work for you, or would you like our help team to lend a hand?
-
RE: Canonical Related question
Hi Manish,
The notices are just notices to let you know that you have a canonical tag there -- it's not an error, just an alert for you.
-
RE: Spurious entries in report
We use a threshold of either 90% or 95% similar on a page to call it duplicate content. Do you have the same signup form with a lot of different URLs? Or are there a lot of pages that have just a little bit of unique content and much of it is a template with the same information?
-
RE: Over $100 per click? How to keep competitors from clicking...
You can also help make sure that your ad shows for the most relevant search terms by using negative keywords. An absurd example, but if you are advertising for furniture you want to show up for "night stand" but want to be sure to have a negative for "one night stand". They can't click if your ad doesn't show.
-
RE: Unreachable Pages
Do you mean orphaned pages without any internal links to them? Or pages that are giving a bad server header code?
-
RE: PR calculation
Hi,
Do you mean the patent that Google published years ago? They've done a bit of updating to the algo since then.
What makes sense for your users for linking categories? Don't forget that they are an important part of your site.

RE: Keywords and On-Page Optimization
If Google didn't exist, how would you write this for your users?
If your website was solely based on people typing in your URL or getting a referral, would your users want a separate page for "How to lose ten pounds" and "how to lose 10 pounds fast"?
Is this an affiliate site or are you selling something that's the same for all of these keyword options?
As a regular person, I would think the answers to the queries about losing 10 pounds and losing 100 pounds would be fairly different, if the page was actually attempting to answer those questions.
