    What is the correct way to work with “read more” links in Wordpress? I have a Wordpress blog where I use in each post a read more link (posts with long content), in other words, in the home page each post has two links to the full post, this is good for the usability of my blog. I show actually 10 posts on the home page, this results in 10 links of post title and 10 links of read more = 20 links. I have 10 repeated links on the home page. My read more links have customized text, links to the permalink without #more, links dofollow. In this way that I’m using read more links, Am I diluting the link juice of my blog? Is it correct to use nofollow in internal links trying to manipulate the link juice of my site?

    Hi guys, I've started used a Mac the other day and I  got a problem in terms of keep track of sites I've obtained links on. I used to use SEO Administrator for that but it won't work on a Mac. What Mac software (preferably free) could you recommend so that it keeps track of the links I got (and notifies me when a link is gone or if the admin changed it somehow.

    I post about 500 words of unique relevant content weekly to each model blog site. Each week, seo smartlinks delivers keyword anchor text links to my core site with a 3% keyword density.  I have been doing this for 3 months and my core site traffic is stagnant or slightly down. Is this a good practice since its relevant content, or am I writing for nothing? Also, am I in danger of over optimized anchor text?

    Since I was hit with Penguin back in April, but with this last update Oct. 5th I did see a very slight recovery, I was thinking about dumping some of my old URL's which contain backlinks which I can't get removed that seem spammy. I was thinking of keeping the page intact but replace with an entirely new URL and NOT 301 redirect. So basically starting over with that URL that way the backlinks points to a dead url. Any thoughts?

    So I just came across SEOMoz's directory list. And I wanted to ask what people think about directories. I hear for new sites, they are good. For old sites, not so much.     Quite a few month ago before Google implemented Penguin algorithm I had a great situation. After 24th of April my ranking and traffic dropped instantly. I would appreciate a professional advise on how my strategy, on-page optimisation can be improved.     Hi, I never hire somebody to create link building to point to our sites. On eLance.com you can hire a SEO contractor to build link our your domaine. New to SEO, is worth it to do so? Is there things I should should be careful about? Things I need to clarify before hiring somebody? Things I need to confirm or ask before hiring such contractors? Most of those ''SEO Expert'' are from India and some have perfect ratings on this site. I have 2 eCommerce sites and we only have a average of 3 sales a day.     Hi everyone, There's two parts to this Q, which is why the title's sort of split in half. We wrote a guest blog post that we were really proud of, which took a good few hours of work. It went live about a month ago, but I just happened to notice recently that it had disappeared off the person's website - I now get a 404 error and I can't find it either using a 'site:' search in Google or via the site's own search tool. I've tried getting in touch with the webmaster, but he's no longer responding to my emails. I really don't know if a) it disappeared by accident (for whatever reason), or b) they purposefully wanted to remove it and now they're avoiding me. My two Q's: Do you think it's cheeky to re-use the content, by giving it to someone else? Or would you say it goes against guest blogging etiquette? It seems a shame to waste it, for it to disappear. If I were to re-use it, would there be any implications regarding Panda, given the fact that it was content that was once live (i.e. effectively 'duplicate', once upon a time), even if the 'original' content is no longer indexed by Google? Would it even be considered a duplicate if published again now? Many thanks in advance!

    I found a link to my customer's site with an over-optimized anchor text using the OpenSite Explorer tool, but when I opened the link, my customer's link is nowhere to be found.     I worked on around 15 EMDs and all of them have similar template but different content. They are all two KW EMDs. Now I did KW research and changed Title tags and Did around 10- 15 links for them in and they all reacted very well to link building except one site. I did the link building for this site in 3 batches- 7 links in first 10 days, then another 7 in next 10 days and another 7 links after 7 days. Site's ranking decreased with each link building. Then I removed the low quality links recently. Now What do you guys suggest should I again do link building?? (though everytime I did link building site lost rankings as mentioned earlier) or WHAT IS THE NEXT STRATEGY AFTER REMOVING BAD LINKS? START LINKING AGAIN, WAIT FOR SOMETIME ?

    I love SEOMoz. It has motivated me to dive way more into SEO. I know all the shoulds. But what fascinates me about SEO is that shoulds don't always match up to what works. I'm looking at Open Site Explorer, specifically my site. I see a lot of links I got naturally. By having awesome content. So is there any point in emailing people asking htem to add my link? Or do I spend my time writing awesome content, sharing it on social media, and hoping someone comes across it and shares it? I know blog commenting, when relevant, can bring me new visitors. I'm sure it helps SEO too. Maybe I just need to reach out and write guest blog posts for grabbing some links? Its just as Google wants it! OMG, how white hat. Is that it? or should I be even more active?  I.E. emailing people and saying "hey, I have this awesome website, your readers would find it useful" sort of thing? Love to hear your opinion!

    Hello, I've created a new site early this year. In an effort to stay on Googles good side I decided not to do any link building. Everything you create yourself is pretty much frowned upon by Google, right? I have been doing a fair bit of blog commenting where that would add value. As a result my link profile shows about 50% anchors with my name in it. Can this be dangerous? Thanks!

    Hi I have a new site which launched around 6 weeks ago, new domain name with a partial keyword match on it, so its going to be a long process but one which I want to tred along the right path for long term results What I am looking for is a checklist if possible on sites that the site (which is a UK based home improvments company) should be listed on? The difficulty is because it can seem a boring subject (windows and doors) it makes it difficult to find authentic quality links, especially with no big budgets or pools of article writers I have registered against the likes of Brownbook, Yelp, Yell.com, Qype, Google Places covering the local aspect but what about the general external links Is it advisable to stay away from directory listings, blog comments, forum posts etc which is what a lot of the competition are doing (weatherseal .co.uk  anglianhome .co.uk   etc

I thought it would at least show up for the "Compare Travel" search term, it only shows up when you type the full website address into google. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong?     I was talking to someone about automatic directory submissions with someone lately, and would love the thoughts of the community here. Basically, the thought was that automatic directory submissions wouldn't get flagged by Google, because they're directories, not necessarily spam links. Is this still true in a post-penguin world?  He hasn't seen any negative effects from it yet, but I'm still cautious. My thoughts would be not to depend on the automatic submissions, but to use them as a supplement.  If a handful (maybe 50/mo) of directory links could be submitted automatically, that could free up more time for content development and promotion, which is where I believe the real value lies.  It would also help skeptical clients feel better about having a certain number of links. So, what have you seen so far?  Is this dangerous, safe, or fairly pointless?

There is a 301 set up to always redirect you so you always land at wildbirdfeeders.com Question. Is this okay to have this set up this way? Am I hurting myself?     Hi Webmaster, Our website recent affected after the panda update. We got the mail from Google webmaster tools regarding the unnatural backlinks for our website. Due do this update we have edited most of the backlinks with natural way. Our question is we had submitted more free directories, from free directories we are getting more backlinks, like from a single domain we are getting more than 50+links, those are coming from the tags pages, also those are one way links, so we can’t edit that. Is it good for the website? After that edit we had sent couple of Google reconsideration report. But we got the reply like still you have the bad neighborhood links.     Dear fellow mozzers, Im in doubt about a subject concerning the use of subdirectories to organize pages and content, but also the effect on how googlebot relates pages together through subdirectories. The specifics: Momentarily the website im working on a site which has a flat url structure for all pages. The website sells courses and eduction on beauty specific subjects. Imagine that there are multiple head categories like: pedicure. This head category has multiple subcourses which all have this structure (as do all pages within the site): http://www.domain.com/subject. Now im wondering if it would be better to bring structure through adding subdirectories like http://www.domain.com/pedicure/pedicure-sub. I've read arguments on keeping your url short because this performs better. Nut on the other hand i think that google can use these subdirectories to determine the relation between head and sub. The reason im asking this, is because the head category page is ranking better for keywords beloning to the subcourses. Would implementing subdirectories help to make the subpages rank better for their specific keywords? Thx

This is completely against Google's policies and if they were to find out, you could be penalized."  So I went through Google's ''Link Schemes''  and found that ''Excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you")''  can negatively impact a site's ranking . _ So is it the ''excessive'' link exchanging that can cause a negative impact?     My site has lots of reviews: Movies, TV, Music, Restaurants, etc. I'm looking for sites that take critic reviews and link back to the critic's site. We're already on Metacritic.com and Rottentomatoes.com, which seems to be the two biggies for movies & tv. But I'm sure there are more out there. Also, I'd love to find sites for restaurant reviews (specifically in the Boston area). Are there any lists out there of sites like these? I'm NOT looking for UGC sites that allow user reviews.     I noticed that some infographics have really small font. I think that the intent is to make the font small so that people who see the infographic (on a blog that embeds it) have to squint and then are compelled to click on the image to be redirected to the owner's website.  Often bloggers post the smaller size to fit on their blog. Do you think this is a good practice and is aiming for the image link better/worse than a just a text link e.g. Infographic courtesy of Acme Co. Thanks!

    I have a question to ask.  I have these two generic keywords - e.g. shoe and shoes. These two keywords have its own landing pages - www.example.com/shoe.aspx and www.example.com/shoes.aspx Now here is my dilemma. Every time I do link building on these keywords using its own landing pages (www.example.com/shoe.aspx and www.example.com/shoes.aspx), the landing page which is  "www.example.com/services.aspx" is the one that ranks on the SERPs while the appropriate landing pages (www.example.com/shoe.aspx and www.example.com/shoes.aspx) go down in the results.  So what I did was I started using the services page ( www.example.com/services.aspx) for both keywords - shoe and shoes. Now what happened then and now was that, the shoe and shoes appropriate pages (www.example.com/shoe.aspx and www.example.com/shoes.aspx) go up in the SERPs while the services page (www.example.com/services.aspx) go down. I do not know what to do. Pls help

    I launched a niche site to go through the whole process, for fun and profit. Started with keyword research (3-6 word long tail keywords), have done first 3 posts and done minimal amount of link building. Have gotten about a dozen visitors in the first 5 weeks and ranking on page 2. Is this ok or should I be more aggressive with link building (assuming my keyword research is done ok)?

    I have a client with a simple bankruptcy website.  If I were to write a press for him using prweb or prnewswire, what are the types of topics I can write about that will allow the content to be picked up by newsoutlets and potential go viral? Also, should I have multiple anchor texts linking back to my client's website in the press release or just one?  Are there other ways to get credit for the press release outside of creating anchor texts int he write-up itself?
